Special Note regarding GUID's, PID is NOT your GUID!

Lately with BF2/BF2142 we've had an ongoing problem with players adding their PID instead of their GUID onto their TWL profile.

Your PID (Player identification number) has nothing to do with your GUID (Globally Unique Identifier), PID is used only for stats tracking and has nothing to do with punkbuster or TWL.

Your GUID is a unique identification number given to you by punkbuster which they use to ban you if you're ever caught cheating. We use the GUID to prevent smurfing and to make sure you're not on the master ban list.

PID's are numeric only using only 0-9, GUID's are alphanumeric using A-F, 0-10.

Is there a way I can get my BF2142 GUID deleted? I accidentally put a 58 in the beginning of it, but i think that was just my number slot on the server. Thanks in advance.

Players repeatedly putting anything other then a guid in are now being suspended untill they can get it right.

This is a common problem. All team founders and captains should check their rosters from time to time to ensure their team mwmbers GUIDs are correct.

There is also a misconception out there that a valid GUID must contain both alpha and numeric values. This is not true. A majority do have letters in the GUID but not all, some appear to be PIDs with just having numbers but are indeed valid GUIDs. Also make sure when entering your GUID that you only enter the last 8 digits as the server will add your spot in the server to the beginning of your GUID.

Baker is correct even though I didn't note this above, however probably 90% of the time the GUID's are alphanumeric, as a Capt. double check any of your players with numeric only GUID's just to be 100% sure.

PID is less of a problem with 2142 I think because EA squashed the independent stats sites.

If you come across a player with a wrong guid, please be nice about it, and let the founder/captian of that team know that a certain player's guid is wrong. IF its only off by one character, dont be a rule whore and deem them ineligable for a match when its clearly a typo. We are here to play and have "fun".

First, Do servers assign temp GUID's as well? If the answer is yes i think i realize the mistake im making ...if no my guid changed after i reinstalled Punkbuster...???

Join a Server that has PunkBuster enabled.
Press the "~" tilde key to enter the in-game console.
Type "pb_plist" and it will show ALL guid's for all players
on the server. You should login to an empty server so only your name and GUID will be displayed.

Example: 20ec9g446e OK PB1 (3.31) -=1stInF Trench-F00T

The 20 is the player slot # and the last 8 digits are the GUID# So the GUID in the example is "ec9g446e"
