Dilatory Loss Reports

Historical capture recovered from the Wayback Machine · captured 2014-04-26 · 22 posts
I am in the "Elements of Disorder" team for the TWL-3v3 ladder, and I have had quite a few problems on challenging people due to the late loss reports that people have submitted. I checked the rules for the TWL-3v3 Ladder, and it states:
"Match scoring results are to be reported by either the losing team as soon as the match is completed. Failure to either report match results or file a match dispute within six hours of the match start time may result in loss of ladder rungs at the admins' discretion."

While there are rescheduling that might take place, it says clearly in the rules that:
"Should a match require rescheduling, the new match time should be within 3 days of the original match time. Matches can only be rescheduled once."

Due to late loss reports, many teams are at a disadvantage. This could, and should be considered an exploit of the ladder system. These rules should be reinforced; something needs to be done.

If a team doesn't report the loss in a timely manner (usually by the next morning), then you should click the "file dispute" button in your admin panel. That will generate a message in the admin forums to let us know there's an issue.

If you've filed a dispute on it, and it isn't resolved fairly promptly, then you need to let me know because someone's not doing their job.

In my Admin Panel, I do have a "Dispute Match Result". However, the dispute has to be against the team I am facing later this week. Is there any possible way to change the team?

And also, if I do not have a match scheduled, can I still see a "File Dispute" somewhere on my Admin Panel?

Thanks,

I assume this is for no shows too. Who don't even offer another date and time for the ladder match??
If a team doesn't show, and didn't respond to comms, post a match comm saying they didn't show.... Specter will see it and take care of it.

I agree Freebird, too many matches on the ladder are way overdue. People might be a little slack because of the season ending and the playoffs.
Filing a match dispute is probably a better, more visible option.
OK, but what about OTHER teams who don't report? One can't file a dispute over a match they aren't involved in.

For instance, there is a pair of teams on our ladder (not gonna point fingers) that have a pending match...scheduled for 11 days ago. ELEVEN.

Nice bit of free rest... and immunity from challenge.

Well, I know you're talking about our team. Today is day 11. We have it scheduled to play tonight. You need to step back a minute and RELAX. it's the Internet sir, stop taking it so seriously. You act like 11 days is an eternity. Take a look at the calendar, it's May. There's finals, graduations, Job Interviews, and many other things that come up around this time of year. It's called Real Life.

You need to worry about your own matches and not others. I like how you say it's free rest. once again, internet, chillax. This is a fun ladder, not OMG SERIOUS SHIT FOLLOW THE RULES TO A T. please take the knot out of your panties and have a good day.
Um...I didn't realize I wasn't 'chilled'. Very sorry. I didn't use nearly so long a string of caps, nor did I swear, nor did I attack anyone directly. I also didn't say anything about eternity...I act like 11 days is...well, eleven days.

I'm sorry you are so defensive about it. I was clarifying a point...not making an accusation. You're the boss...rules don't count in May. Got it. Thank you for your polite reply, which I must assume is representative of the TWL staff.

Nice.

Yes, we all have a real life... I have finals, I have research paperS... I have tons of work too. In fact, I'm going to be up for 24 hours tomorrow.. fun.

However, rules should still be kept to... joining this ladder does take dedication (my team laughed at me for saying that ).

Other matches do affect how we challenge...we might want to challenge at the same time as another match because we want to challenge them after. So ultimately, your matches affect our matches

Yes, I understand that the administrators work their asses off to keep this place going (and I thank you for that), but is it really fair that the admin's teams gets a bit of leniency just... because?

Sorry if I sound irritated, it's just that I spent a lot of time planning, and all of it goes to waste because some other team didn't report their loss or haven't had their match yet.

admins teams don't get leniency. we rescheduled and your team is bitching about it b/c it's 11 days after the scheduled match, u aren't even high enough to challenge us. CHILLAX
CRY LIKE THE MONKEY YOU ARE!
They asked to resched. They still couldn't show up. We rescheduled for them again. We're not douchebags.

So anyway...you can't even challenge us. And admin's team doesn't get leniency...I fucked specter into submission and he does what I say.

11 days ago. ELEVEN.
no fair they get 11 days of rest from that GRUELING ladder competition. ADMIN ABUSE
"Should a match require rescheduling, the new match time should be within 3 days of the original match time. Matches can only be rescheduled once."

My previous post was probably a little misdirected. We don't want to challenge you, we know your team is going to kick our ass, we wanted to challenge the other team.

If the other team isn't showing up, then they should deserve a forfeit.

.... When did I ever say you guys were douche bags?

I have no intention of being rude, we came here to bring up a problem in the ladder. However, you tell us to "get the knot out of our panties" or tell me that "[my] team is bitching."
Unbelievable.
sorry but we don't like forfeit wins, they're really dumb. so we're flexible and reschedule.
That's fine...you could have said that in the first place. We just want to know what the REAL rules are, so we stand on the same ground, and can adjust our challenging strategies accordingly...and know how strictly WE need to take the posted rules. Your infantile reply was a bit much, not to mention all the lil' kiddies who followed your poor example.

Now we know. Might wanna work on your social skillz. Thank you.

my social skills are fine.

When you called out the 11 day teams, i took that as you attacking my team. So i responded in that manner. I apologize if that wasn't your intentions.

This Ladder has always been about fun. The admins for this ladder, for the longest time, have been real lenient for all teams. Getting teams to play is better than forfeits. Forfeits just plain aren't fun. ET is obviously on the decline with QuakeWars coming out soon, so just have fun on the ladder and be a little flexible when the time comes.

Again, sorry for getting angry in previous posts, but i don't like it when my team gets attacked like that.
OK, were all good then. It definitely wasn't my intention to point any fingers (I said as much). As you said, we can't even challenge you...we didn't even notice your team, and I wasn't trying to place blame anywhere. Just didn't want to end up religiously following rules that we don't have to, and others aren't. Yes, fun ladder...but it's an even playing field that makes it that way.

No harm done in the long run. We are all on the same page now.

If it says anywhere in the same rules that contain the "3 day, 1 reschedule" part that it's flexible and even a very late match is preferred, I missed it.

I am sorry, too...for any misunderstanding on my part.

Now, if I could just get this damn knot out of my panties!
