TWL championship - posted Demos required of all players

Historical capture recovered from the Wayback Machine · captured 2014-04-26 · 8 posts
For the TWL alpha championship, all players on both teams should be required to post demos on EtCenter.

1)Strats would not be affected, they will be on ETTV anyway.

2)We can all learn from the skill of the top players in ET, watching and learning from them play.

3)The top players, who may be bashful about demo posting due to modesty, will have thier ET fame grow by leaps and bounds by being forced to post thier demos. That way, even the shy players, will get thier fair share of deserved recognition for thier top level skills.

4)Any silly suspicion, that some of these players win games/battles because they are toggle trash, will be allayed.

5)If, heaven forfend, there are any toggle trash amongst the top teams, they will have to at least consider, turning it down a bit, resulting in perhaps a more Skill Based Outcome, rather than a toggle based one. Of course, when the going gets tough, the tough get going, and the trash toggle, so it may make for some interesting viewing even if turned down and used less.

I see no negatives here? How about it TWL? Its only for one match.

Already done, we store ETTV demos. Sword may have a way to grab them through HTTP, otherwise could probably upload it here, not ET-C, since we're not going to require anyone to post to a third party site.
So, after the championship match, the ETTV demo will be posted, and anyone who wants to can watch it from any players point of view?

I thought that requires a special server, and all sorts of time dependant things?

So, I want to watch the last time WS was on ETTV, where is it stored, and how do I watch it?

I would think its pretty non accessable in reality. Wont be viewed by many people.

Also, for hacker trash purposes, especially given TWL letting BDmatt off, I cannot imagine anything but an actual demo from the toggler himself would be enough to nail anyone. Oh its the servers POV, we cant know what he saw, etc. etc. Oh, we dont know BDmatt is hacker trash, oh, lets lock the etcenter posting about it, cause there is another one buried two pages down in a topic about recruitment....

So yeah fire up the last couple ETTV match so I can watch them, it may take a couple sittings to, I guess you guys will do that on demand, for multiple people, on demand? Extraordinarily doubtful, but possible.

It just seems weird that the enforcement body of ET is just letting all this slide, is interested in sweeping it under the rug.

This demos stuff is NOT complex, there is no "may have a way" its just straighforward posting of demos, 12 total, to try and ensure the integrity of the championship match.

The whole competition as is, is determined by toggle trash. I and others, have known if for a while now, but counted on TWL to eventually nail the cheaters. BDmatt video, has really opened my eyes though. TWL is never going to catch the cheaters, and seems to take no interest in reasonable easy to achieve measures to do so?

Just have them post thier demos on TWL, all 12 of em, freely accessible, that will put some integrity back into the game, they will almost certainly tone it down, and if not, maybe some highly interesting inhuman behavoir can be shown when the going gets tough.

Like I said, we have all the ETTV demos but they're on Sword's server. I don't know if he has a method of distributing already. If he doesn't, then we can probably work out a way to either send demos on demand or upload them somewhere else.

The demo contains viewpoints of all 12 people. Why on Earth would we resort to an inferior demo format? It takes a little bit longer to set it up, but when all 12 people are being recorded straight off the server, using demos is madness.

We're letting things slide? There are 15 people I've suspended in the past week. What evidence do you have that we're letting this slide: because you have an axe to grind with a specific player and your personal vendetta hasn't been satisfied?

You seem to be insistent on your way or the highway. I told you we already record the season finals, and you still insist that that's somehow not good enough because they're not split up into 12 files or something.

If the ETTV demos aren't up by the end of finals, then I'll host them to download on my own server. As a bonus, I'll even make available the Tier 2 finals, which should also be broadcast on ETTV. And I don't need rhetoric like "putting integrity back into ET" in order to do that.

Note that you can set up a server to play back demos, repeating as desired.

I would be happy to provide demo playback for anyone who wants it (time and resources permitting, of course, but this normally shouldn't be a problem)

keep in mind this is not for everyone to whore and download from the server as there is a bandwidth limitation. I created the link directory just for this purpose, do not abuse it because I can easily delete the folder.

Oh and if you didn't know already, I am the "behind the scenes" admin of ettv, since sure provides the server to the community, I do the server maintenance and management of ETTV.
