First off, let me say I appreciate all the TWL admins have done over the years for ET.
The last season of ET, was the most competitive ever, tons of top teams, great season.
Right now, a decision has to be made sometime soon regarding season start. With the delay, we are losing players to other games, no big deal in and of itself usually, but this time its different for the following reasons.
1)ET will almost certainly have no more money competitions/no qcon tourney.
2)ETQW is on the horizon - some players will switch to that, perhaps a signnificant portion. RTCW2 is coming too, although later, but that puts people in the, I am gonna switch mode as well.
Competitive Gamers at present are faced with the choice now: To continue playing ET and wait for the next season to start again, or to switch to another game now.
The more delay there is, the more players will switch to another game. I count my self in that, no big loss I know : ) But ET without real 6v6 scrim competition is quite frankly boring, pubbing just doesnt get it.
For a certain proportion of gamers, those that plan to switch to ETQW and go to qcon, there is only time for ONE season of ET left. But its gotta be started soon. Otherwise it will hit the ETQW release date.
Summary:
1)the longer the wait- the more players will try other games, like them, and leave(always true-but usually outwieghed by the fact that we are already top in this game, and would be semi-nubs in the other game, espec if its like css and established already,and lack of #2 #3)
2)ET is a dead game in terms of money tournies (new)
3)ETQW release is coming up soon (new)
ET will survive past all this, just like rtcw did, heck maybe it will be even better. But for the remainding guys that have been here for what 2plus years now, but like lan tournies and have to switch games, we would appreciate a ET season start date released soon, likely with little to no preseason. Its best to finish it before ETQW gets released as a practical matter.
