    When is the release date?
2006 is all that's known at the moment.
This gonna be a free download like the original ET or will you have to purchase it?

This is going to be retail.
Is there going to be a demo of sorts released prior to the actual game release?

That is NOT true. A number of interviews say that the vehicles have different driving characteristics depending what surface they are on, and have a fairly realistic driving model. Obviously, that wouldn't make any sense if they were on fixed paths like ET.

Let's look at tanks in ET. Whether on the paved ground of goldrush, or the snowy terrain of fuel dump, the tank moves *exactly* the same.

The items you list above--realistic driving model and differing characteristics based upon terrain--could in fact be fancy ways of saying "when the fixed path is in snow, it'll turn slower than when on grass, etc..."

While I don't think it's a likely case, I don't see anything in your statement that outright dismisses the possibility of fixed path vehicles.

But it has been said that with the physics, you can pull off any trick you would do in a normal car, more or less.
The thing i liked most about what Wils had to say, is that there will be small team sizes
Vehicles + FPS = boo imo

FFS, if they were fixed path movers, the devs wouldn't be ranting about how good their driving model is. A fixed path mover *doesn't have a driving model*

Anyway if you even glance at any of the previews, it is obvious they are talking about drivable vehicles. For example:

Basically this new tech allows the developers to create a gigantic texture for the game which serves as the battlefield. Designers can set height maps, vegetation, as well as traction. So a big part of the map could be sand, while an asphalt road goes through it. Vehicles will behave differently depending on what they are driving on.

Speaking of vehicles, the game will feature various land and air units. Humans have vehicles such as highly advanced tanks (the game is set about 50 years in the future), while the Strogg forces feature Walkers and other units you've seen in the Quake 4 screenshots and videos. It's important to the designers that you can have fun on foot as well, and they are ensuring that sometimes it's easier to get to an objective by foot than using a vehicle.

Besides the MegaTexture technology, Quake Wars also has improved netcode to allow for more players. A new physics system in place as well. Let's just say you expect to see a lot of Quake Wars stunt videos. Individual wheels can come off, you can rig a vehicle with explosives, you can do donuts, drive a car on its side with two wheels, do barrel rolls in airplanes, etc, etc.

There is a good chance that vehicles in ET:QW will move away from the things we like in in RTCW and ET, but I don't think they are inherently bad. Most of the stuff that is annoying about vehicles in the BF series has to do with how they were made, not just the mere existence of vehicles. The Tribes series did better with them, IMO.
Will the movement, shooting, and gameply be similar to ET?

Ex: Side strafing, 3 headshots for a kill, character classes etc....

Like Quake 4, ET QW will run off a modified Doom 3 engine. The graphics should be smashing!

update your computers for this one if you havent already! whoo, i cant wait for this. im buying whatever the newest ATI card is for this one upon game release.

anyone have any idea how the leagues will be run? 6v6 like W:ET?

i mean, from the way this sounds, this may be similar to full scale war strategy, lol. i have heard that as aliens you can make dead humans into a spawn point. And as humans, you can pick what you build, ie-missile turrets on top of a building as opposed to another gun.

i really do not think that they would turn enemy territory into battlefield 1942. if anything, wolfenstein - enemy territory is still entirely more complicated than most FPSs out there. Even newer ones. The added element of strategy makes it unique. And it does not have the support/player base that CounterStrike does, i think, for that very reason.

so following that, enemy territory being so strategy based as it is, i highly doubt they would take away that aspect of it, even in hand to hand combat. from what i have read, it is still going to require a decent amount of hand to hand combat as well as building, and driving vehicles. i just think theyre going to add some layers of strategy to it, such as different vehicles holding certain materials, possibly different kinds of classes, etc etc...

anyways, its fabulous to see such a great game updated like this. Its about time we had some new graphics for this, and its about time splash damage started charging for this game. it might help to weed out some of the problems W:ET is currently having.

    yaay. cant wait.

I'm remembering what I can from all these interviews I've been reading. Forgive any stupid little mistakes I make.

donald: SplashDamage were targetting for 12v12, but they don't even have the resources to TEST that many people, meaning most games they play are 6v6, and thus will ensure that's fun.

Also, from what I understand, it's NOT going to be like BF2 (attack anywhere from anywhere else). The maps will be OPEN, however, both sides will be focused on one point. The method you take, however, can vary. One mission I remember reading about had the humans escorting a mobile base vehicle, driven by another human to an outpost, setting up a spawn, building a bridge to cross into some sort of city, and eventually taking it over.

Basically, if you really want, you can go all the way out into the terrain, turn around, and flank the enemy. That's the impression I got: you have to go here, but you're not going to be led there.
