I have this really annoying problem, i downloaded the game (EM) but it lags alot. as soon as i get into a server and when i play it goes slow every 2 secs this is really annoying. does ne one have ne tips for this problems like screen resolutions and sound or sumthing like dat.

THANK YOU IF U REPLY.
Start the game and go into the system options -- make sure you have the right connection selected. And while you're in there, set the video settings to "Fast". If it still lags, it's not the game causing the problem.
be more specific. if the lag is "connection based," start with solutions there--shutting down things like Kazaa in the background, etc.

Are you experiencing low fps (frames per second)? I am inclined to believe that is the case when you suggested resolution as a solution. Look at your hardware first.

more info please.
we has a league match yesterday vs. a team who considered our 300+ ping lag to be an advantage..

you should consider yourself lucky in that reguard

..on a more serious note:
you can try using a really low-end gfx config if you feel its a frames issue
if its a networking issue you might also want to have a quick tinker with your 'snaps' settings..

Funny how it seemed the 300+ pings were a GIANT advantage, rather than a disadvantage. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. Go figure.

We did far better against alpha-caliber clans in scrims than against your bullshit lag... but hey we could actually HIT them. Maybe you should be in Alpha! Wonder what some of those clans would have to say.

Found this on a gaming forum posted by some IT guy.

"The Internet compounds the "ping" or "lag" problem. When you're playing a cable modem (pinging 25->50 or so) and YOUR ping is 200 to 250, the cable modem (DSL, whatever) is getting updates from the server 4 to 8 TIMES FASTER. So he sees you (and shoots you) 4 to 8 times faster than you see him. You end up shooting WHERE HE USED TO BE!"
-------------
From a gamer on a forum

"Although the worst scenario that I sometimes experience in Counterstrike is a player with a very low ping (30) vs. a player in (300). I have been killed by such high ping players without seeing them pop out from behind cover to take the shot."

---------------

Another forum from another gamer

"high ping gamers do piss me off a little (i'm talking 300 and above here). they're in a sort of permanent bullet time and you can never hit them."

well im not going to get into a teen-angst slanging match over this because its rather pointless.. and i dont fancy hijacking raju's thread for a typical sour grapes argument..

but i do have to point out that first quote from these 'magical forums' you dont even link to, relates to OUR problem of sometimes shooting at where you guys USED to be.. you guys are the 'cable modem' referred to with 25-50 ping

EDIT: We had the same pings last week and got destroyed by BYE - go figure..

"Destroyed" was not the term one of them referred to the match as. Supplydepot is close quarters for the most part, could probably much more easily counter this high-ping bull. Radar is a bitch of a map nevermind aiming straight at people and not hitting... but getting hit easy as pie.

Nice little snotty comment tho bud lol.

On topic: I had a similar problem to what you are having raju when I first started playing. Had to upgrade my system (especially video card) to be able to play ET with anything beyond bare-minimum settings.

Being that I'm in BYE, I would love to know what you are talking about?

I rathered enjoyed playing against the high pings. Probably because my aim sucks and the ping worked in my favor.

These M$M cookie bars are great
If having a high ping makes you god like, and better than all these others teams, then please go join ClanBase and win the EuroCup.

Lag is a two way street, it may only seem they have an advantage, cause they scrim and play against NA teams all the time! They learned very very well how to adjust to the lag, and etpro helps them a lot lag wise, as Insano pointed out when ET Pro 3.1 came out.

We are not use to their lag, playing against high pings, its a change for us. When we faced D+S in the playoffs a couple seasons back, we primilary scrimmed only 1-2 a night preppin for that match, and would spend an hour or more pubbing on European servers, getting use to the high pings, match came around, and it was a very, very close 1-0 Win by D+S, we made the match closer then anyone would of thought, and we lost the match, cause of our own mistakes! Was not cause we were out shot.

Get some dedication and go prepare for your match when you know you are up against a high ping opponent, and stop givin these bull reasons as to why you go your butt kicked.
Let me be CRYSTAL clear here folks. I don't want to see a SINGLE additional post regarding Quickerspeed and 5thWard on these boards. I'm not going to demean anyone with a trifling description of punishments, because I'm sure everyone is going to nod their heads and follow this simple directive.

did you notice if the original question was answered or not? I have not seen the poster reply and IMO< he wasn't terribly clear.
I'm pretty sure with a question like that he'd need to go through an entire troubleshooting session. I just have no intention of allowing this, or for that matter ANY other thread, devolve into name calling and/or whining about a contentious match.

Honestly, I'm not the best equipped to answer the question. Lags in game that are truly periodic are ones I've often found due to the connection. Solved a couple of people's problems getting rid of spyware, someone by dumping extra services a la Black Viper, and some it really was just the ISP. I've solved a couple of bad connections through getting myself handled by a better server on my ISP (I got routed at one point by a server that changed a 10-jump connection to a 34-jump one, it was ridiculous). After troubleshooting connection issues, I'd start focusing on the vid settings, then the vid card and drivers, then lastly all memory resident programs. Knowing system specs always helps too.
