Spawn camping/ killing

is it allowed in leagues and ladders???
Yes...yes...yes...and yes.
hes kidding. Spawn killing and spawn camping and or locking are not allowed in matches. Spawn killing can be seen as an embarassment to your team and could cause removal from that ladder or league. On another note, good sportsmanship is a main goal at TWL. If you /kill you are taking away VALUABLE xp from the person attacking you. It can result in a warning, and forefit if continued.

have a good day.
There have been discussions that spawn camping/killing for the purpose of embarassing the other team, which is solely at the admins' discretion to determine, will be treated as unsportsmanlike conduct. Stopwatch teams that full hold a team on Oasis, dominate in the first half and spawn camp the other team mercilessly for eight minutes before getting a last minute cap they could have gotten at any time can expect to have their matches overturned, for a blatantly obvious example.

Realistically, spawn camping/killing are a vital part of any successful team's strategy. Dealing with the reinforcements before they can break out and get organized is what makes for successful offenses. Once it becomes obvious that it's not being used for an actual game purpose but to gloat, then it becomes a problem. Some people have a problem with that determination being made on a case-by-case basis. But, that's the way it is.
Someone please tell me he's kidding about /kill.

Those tactics are allowed within reason so use your best judgement when making that decision.

set b_damagexp 1

Really? In a match? Hmmmm.

I think you misread T's post. He never mentioned /killing; he used the slash to indicate interchangeable terminology: "spawncamping" and "spawnkilling"
yes I did mean spawn killing not /kill but my question isnt really answered. I have people that say yes, people say that its ok but not to do it to much. So can a TWl ref or some plz answer this question with a yes or no.

BTw I am asking this question to settel an argument with some ppl. i am against spawn killing, the spawn times are to long for someone to be killed in a spawn consistently.
TDawg did answer the question.

Spawn killing is a perfectly legitimate tactic and any good team will use it. On certain maps it is an essential offensive strategy and there is nothing wrong against it.

However, and this is something that occurs very rarely, we discourage spawn killing when it is ONLY used to embarass the other team and prolong a match unnecessarily. This is the ONLY time spawn killing can be problematic and in reality its not the spawn killing that's the problem, its the other teams need to embarass the other team and act like idiots in doing so.

So, in short, yes spawnkilling is allowed.

And just so we're on the same page. /kill to rob xp is allowed too, yeah?

/kill in a Match is 100% allowed....... Trust me..
Yes, /kill is allowed.
man kinda sad to let /kill pass by. But i guess if its for a good reason like switching classes and spawns is ok. But if u guys let ppl /kill in a firefight then thats whack.
/killing is a legitimate tactic. granted there are some statwhores out there that do it every time they're about to lose a fight, and yeah it's pretty annoying.

On the other hand.... lets say you need to get to the other side of the map quickly... /killing lets you do this. or you're 2-4 seconds from respawn and you run into a pack of guys, no point in dying and being out for an entire round. you're better off /killing and respawning with your team. Sometimes offensively you're better off respawning with your team and helping them make a push, then killing or being killed by 1 guy. And yes, the switching classes reason as well. Maybe someone is spawncamping your team and they need someone else to help them get out of spawn. There are a million VALID reasons to slash kill. I think it's a shame that so many pubs kick people for doing it.
Life time bans for all aforementioned offenses imo.
Trying to rob people of XP by \killing is useless in ETpro(if the cvar is set right). It gives you a percentage of what XP you would have gotten from a kill if someone you were hitting \kills a few seconds after you shot them. I belive TWL has this setting activated. Could be wrong though.

I use /kill when panzer love is coming at me. Then it completely robs xp from the panzer. I also thing it's a pretty fair move because you can't gunfight a rocket.
If some moron in a match wants to /kill with 15 secs to respawn cause he doesn't want to lose a firefight, I say by all means. All it does is hurt his own team. There is nothing to say that maybe he would of won the firefight or had gotten help from a teammate. If he wants to sit in limbo instead, go for it. Besides, this game looks more and more towards moving to no XP and at that point, /kill to just not be killed would only be a move of arrogance.
my favorite is something I've seen many times...if you're panzing sometimes you can pull the old panz warm-up and then don't fire trick and people will /kill...i did this a whole round once on a l33t server and these kill ratio whores did it 8 times...i never fired once. good times

people /killing have been going on for 4 years dating back to RTCW. It's part of the game and like other have said let them do it. The reason's that megs gave is right on. I just think people that do it on a pub with 15 seconds to spawn are pussy's.

**It's not what you say it's how you say it!**
Bani should definitely add /playdead to the next Etpro.

Haha, oh that would be funny.
"these kill ratio whores did it 8 times"

except that a /kill counts as a death, so I doubt its ratio whores.
I know this one player that /kills on a shrub server, and he swears he is good because he can get a lot of kills with little deaths, he /kills in a fire fight every time he is in 1. what would u say to this person. In shrub xp isnt based on the number of hits like in et pro.
My advice:
1. Get better at headshots so they dont have a chance to /kill
2. Stop playing on shrub servers
3. Realize that /killing has always been and always will be part of the game so learn to live with it

If /killing bothers you that much then find a pub server that has it disabled and stop playing in leagues/ladders cause it will always be allowed.
I think the "no consistant spawnkilling to prolong the game and embarrass the other team rule" shouldn't be there. Yeah I guess its kind of "mean".. but so what? In my old agent days, we got challenged by CAMP PAIN, a nice conglomoration of alpha players when all we did was the ladders at that time. We were axis, and got spawncamped on oasis and battery throughout the whole map until the last two minutes, however we didn't go bitch about the loss to the admins.

LOL that was a fun match. We had a couple level 4 coverts by the end of battery.

i would tell this person his e-penis is not as big as he thinks it is and he should consider uninstalling to spare the world from one more retard.

Kidding aside, someone suggested a FAQ guide for newbies. I think that is a good idea for league play and it should be here.
I think that ET has become too similar to RTCW with all these changes. I think the leagues are killing the game by wanting to make it look like RTCW. I used to love ET but now I'm starting to get fed up with it! There used to be a time when ET was fun to play, now it's getting boring! It you used to be about fairplaying and playing the game, now it's hardcore competition and owning at all cost and the main goal is now humiliate your adversary when before the goal was to get objective done! The new configs don't help either.... blocking spawn point by proning, trickjumps, etc.. The game just isn't there anymore!!! This is ET damn it not RTCW!!!!!

Whats Shrub?
Think in terms of your team and you'll get past the /killing thing. If someone /kills instead of scrapping it out you havent lost health, are still in position, able to help someone else out and you have not used any ammo.
Killing out for any reason is as much a part of the game as reloading, if you don't realize this yet then you need to study the strategy of ET more.

I disagree 110%. the game is actually playable now. i know some people live to see the awards list and their xp gives them a nice warm fuzzy feeling on the inside, but the way the game was played prior to the adjustments was far too unbalanced. the game is now more balanced and has more of an emphasis on completing objectives and teamplay as opposed to point whoring. don't like the new head hitboxes? oh well. now people might actually have to know how to shoot.

you're right, et is not rtcw. et is an expansion pack to rtcw. i suppose the fact there are similarities is to be expected. however, rtcw is a great game and without it, you would not have et.

there is always the uninstall option or you can wait for another developer/publisher to declare a game as "not progressing as we like it to" and release it for free again. I am not sure if you'll be able to get wippuh to ruin the new games of the future with the same level of zeal he exhibits now, though we can only hope.....

Did you ever even play RtCW? Or is it merely to blame for everything you don't like about ET? This game IS RtCW, just with some additions and changes.

See Ev1l's post above.

If you want to get technical, its not exactly part of the game. If splash damage intended for it to be a part of the game then why is it not an option to pick? Why is it the only way you can get it is through the console. /kill was intended as a console command in case anyone got stuck in a wall in a map or some glitch caused the person to be stuck. Like in some maps if you are revived under a object sometimes you'll get stuck and can't move. /kill was intended to to allow that person to respawn so he wouldn't be stuck there in a game. So technically its NOT being used as it was intended.

Think about about it. Its been exploited and used for purposes outside the original design. In my opinion I think it hurts the game. It takes away the fun of game, which is why I believe it shouldn't be allowed in pubs because that is for fun. For serious match, I'm fine with it and will deal with it. But if I have to hear the brainless excuse for its use being that "its part of the game" I'm gonna throw up.

It's part of the game. As is altering m_pitch or any other console cvar. Or spawn point scripts. Or any script for that matter. Stop being a fucking crybaby and adapt.
its part of the game...so "was" unlimited panzers and unlimited rifle nades and hell xp. so saying its part of the game, learn to deal with it is idiotic and as gryg put it "brainless". If people have a concern, like there being too many mines or the unfunness of battery with cov op blowing ramp and no back door to blow, they voice their concern. One would think you would learn to deal with that instead of constantly complaining that others are complaining about the game. Lots of positive changes have been made and some are arguably negative. /kill is most often used to get more ammo in which case it does not increase teamplay or fairness. However, grabbing spawn flags or making a full team offensive push are very team oriented uses for /kill. /kill has become a critical part of many teams strats and eliminating it would be far less drastic than eliminating xp which of course changed strats. I remember when you could /kill get revived on test2 and have full charge. obviously this is an exploit. The way /kill is used currently is a borderline exploit. So don't be completely shocked if people think it should be eliminated. Learn to well deal with it.
The whole /kill thing has been blown way out of proportion. Its part of the game and if you don't like it, don't play ET. Just don't act like some whiny little bitch noob and kick/ban everyone in your server that does it. If someone /kills, so the fuck what?

Stop whining. Keep /killing. Just play ET.
lol like i said above...that's horrible stupid logic.

That's like saying you don't like two panzer defenses don't play et. Deal with it.
lol...

removing /kill would change a lot of teams offensive pushes. at least those teams who are interested in getting full pushes as opposed to running around randomly like newbs and hoping they get a break in the defense.

anyways. all the crap you mentioned that was removed is related to spam. the big difference between /kill and spam is none of the good teams want to remove /kill b/c they recognize it's value. spam on the other hand, only rewards less skilled players. any player worth a shit already has kill bound so it is hardly a 'borderline exploit.'
Well like NaziMudda said if you're going to say its part of the game then so was having unlimited riflenaders as was having unliminted panzers. So why can't we then have a whole team of 6 panzers in match. "Its part of the game".

Like I said, technically in the words you use its wrong. Being part of the game is being part of the design and using /kill was not designed this way. Also /god is part of the game, why can't we use that?

See why using that excuse is the dumbest one of all? Please use good excuses like "Have no ammo" or "To regroup with team". Those are good reasons why /kill is used. But the dumbest one anyone can ever say is "Its part od the game". Its the easiest thing to say when nobody can think of a real good valid reason why, which indicates this person has zero intelligence.

How about, "I felt like it"

By the way, I wasn't saying that /kill shouldn't be allowed in matches. My point was only to argue that I'm sick of seeing brainless excuse for using it. There are a lot of good reasons people bring up for its use, but "being part of the game" is just plain stupid one.
