PB Screenshots

I was wondering how exactly this is done? I was pubbing on the xx server last night and this one person was playing amazing with an ungodly amount of hs's and I wanted to check on this person but I had no idea on how to take the pb screenie, and guys dont give me the "Well there are a lot of good players out there" speach, i have been around long enough to know this. Can someone help me with this matter?

You can only take a pb ss if you have rcon access to a server.

Otherwise, specing the player and taking demos is your only option.

well, I myself didn't get a demo but I know a couple ppl that did, I tried /cheaters but it only came up with ???win32 so that could really be anything, cause i know xfire was doing that for a while. Is there anything we can do with the demos?

Demos are almost worthless. I could watch demos from your matches and find instances where it looked like you were cheating I'm sure.

What you mean by ungodly hs, cause its not that hard to get 100+ hs in a round sometimes. Depends who is on the server.

what is the best way to report cheaters? What kind of proof is needed? Will etpro saying they cheat suffice or will a demo be required with that?

Taking pb screenshots you specatate them and take a screenshot right or can you do it "remotely" without having to spectate them

punksbusted.com's MBL system is the only 100% method out there, everything else can be faked or misinterpreted :-(

No, all screenshots are done through pb. You don't have to spectate them, as it can be done through rcon. You can enter in a command to do it manually or set the server up to take screenshots at regular intervals. Punkbuster's site has an FAQ on how to set it up.

IMO, only pbss are definative. I do think that rare demos are "mostly" conclusive. At the very least, suspicious demos should be submitted for review.

I have confidence that constant pb updates can continue to catch people who feel the need to download these multihacks. It's really the tweaking arena that seperates some skill circles from others I believe.

But definately try to link your server to punkbusted Master Ban List. It's best for everyone.

I know of at least one other admin site that allows streaming of PB logs also, but in effect you're correct.

ET Pro's cheat detection doesn't offer (that I'm aware) any way to read the logs it captures, so I don't even trust it honestly. If the author can't also create some utility for a server amdin to interpret their own logs, then I don't want it on my machine.

PB SS can be blanked intentionally by some hacks (or end up that way accidentally for other reasons) so even those are limited in use.

Kind of infuriating really. Admins can spend more time trying to catch these punks than they put in playing the game they love.

well thanks a bunch guys for all your responses, i unfortunately didn't have rcon when this happened so i was out of luck. But thanks for informing me on what i need to do so it doesn't happen again. The xx513 server has had a lot of ppl coming through and a lot of good competition also so i want to make sure it stays that way.

Tricky i did sorta get a demo of that guy, theirs no doubt that he was boting, he had the flicker mouse across the screen to heads. At one point of the demo this punk's crosshair would fly across the screen at multiple walls and just start shooting. Pretty funny.
btw his name was FS|brakke or something.

on the issue of pb screenshots, it is just me or do the majority of screenshots requested via pb_sv_getss fail in file transfer? I've really this to be a problem. Almost every screenshot i request (whether it be everone at once, or individually) fails in file transfer. any advice?

V51 Chim-Chim. In the past 3 days, I have averaged 1 visible haxor a day. The funny thing, they apply it so openly and they think that no one will notice. Simply amazing....

Yes hacks are heavily increasing. On certain "noob" xp save servers I can catch 3 people an hour using wall hacks. It's so funny because I've seen several times when Snipers throw smoke right in front of themselves then start sniping people from far away and killing plenty.

Some people hide their aimbots very well so sometimes it is extremely hard. It seems I can always sense a bot though because you get moved around strangely. You get hit on the lwer right of your body then all of a sudden in the head on the very next bullet. The recoil of getting shot just doesn't feel natural. A guy on Sinr. used one against us in a match and got caught the next day with it. I had a feeling of something strange but it's not like I was totally sure he had one, it just seemed odd.

Umm, upgrade your server to 3.1.9 to STOP the MPC cheats, they mostly come from Germany, and are outdated since 3.1.6, the newest one is MR HAX RTCW, but will be busted, adn is for RTCW, but might work in ET, most of all N7H3 Cheats are detected thanks to bani and crew.

Stop using 3.1.0 and upgrade to 3.1.9 soon 3.2 same with league play, people can still bot with no wall cheat on and get away, just sad.

Matches still require 3.1.0. However, but you're welcome to use whatever you want on your pub server.

dude, Ive seen plenty of good players get tons of headshots... ive sat and watched silver or neo rack'em up.. if you average 1-2 hs per kill then youre bound to end with 30 or 40+ kills with 50 - 60 hs

Is there any official stance on PB screenshots in matches ? I'd avoid them myself, given that they tend lag the player being screenshotted, and could be abused by the hosting clan (on voice ... "screenshot their doc runner now!"), but OTOH, there is quite a bit that isn't detected by 3.1.0 and PB.

Out of curiousity on this whole hax shit and the version being used. does the date of the cheat database make any difference during a match?

all matches I've been in have been 3.1.0 but the cheat database dates have varied. some from november, some from july...

I mean is it like using nortons antivirus with virus definitions that are 5 months old ?

Bani updates the cheat database allot so unless the Admin's update it on thier server then known cheats can get by..

I am not sure if he can provide it on Public ETPRO releases like 3.2 as part of the install but reyalP prob knows better..

I have a question. I took a pb screenshot of someone I had a small suspicion was cheating. I never jump to conclusions though because I know there are a lot of good shots out there. Anyway I took 2 shots and in both of them there appeared to be NO crosshair at all. No dot, nothing and the graphics were extremely low detail that may be beyond normal bounds. It seemed odd that he was shooting randomly at times and hitting with 35% accuracy and without even having a crosshair. What do you think?

that doesn't really sound that bad, i mean i can hit 35% accuracy most of the time...like you said that the graphics looked really low maybe you just couldn't see the cursor because of this reason. i have pb screenshots before and they aren't the best graphics because they dont need to be, they show what you want to see and want you cant normally see. well keeger i know the mechanics behind a really good shot, i have played with some of the best, but when specing this guy he would "flick" between ppl and track them through walls, right where his cursor was the person would come out from behind a wall/corner...

I don't doubt people that can get 35% most of the time because I usually do that myself. I was only questioning it because of the oddity of the screenshots which appeared to have NO crosshair at all and couldn't understand how someone could shoot like that without knowing where the bullets are heading. I've take a fair amounts of pb screenshots and never got anything like this so I was unsure. Thanks for your input.

Perhaps if you post the pics you would get more useful input. You can black out the name/guid/ip, to avoid casting suspicion on the potentially innocent.

Note that values of PB_SV_SSSRATE > 1 could make a small crosshair disappear.

We use pbss on our servers, with shots being taken at random intervals and are viewable by admin only.

What is the TWL rule rearding taking PBSS during matches? We don't want to lag anyone out.

1) Is random PBSS enabled OK for a TWL match?
2) Do we have to make the PBSS viewable by the other team?
3) If random PBSS are legal are there any limitations (ie no more than 1 sceenie per 20 mins etc).

You can just point me to the appropriate link if I missed something in the rulebook.

I beleive you need to use the TWL config with no cvar mods unless the other team agrees.
