Reinstall Question (sick of these yet?)

Historical capture recovered from the Wayback Machine · captured 2003-07-31 · 19 posts
Tribemate of mine reinstalled recently and everything goes fine until login, when it asks him to "Create Warrior Name". He fills it out and everything freezes. I remember this happening to me when i reinstalled a while ago, but can't remember the fix. Anyone?

Thanks ahead of time!

i would do a fresh install and make sure the shortcut is setup correctly bypassing the auto updater and actually has -login -online or something in it.

that most likely is his problem, its probably loading as listen or lan server mode.

quick question, if he's just reinstalling why is he recreating an account?

thats exactly the problem, krytoss. this screen shouldn't come up, yet it does. It happened to me when i tried to reinstall a while ago and i got it worked out, but can't remember how.

I have recently reinstalled Tribes and am having major trouble!

I knew that SierraUp.exe was screwed, so I did tribes2.exe with -online -login username password. Yet when I go into Tribes it logs me in then says to create a "New Warrior" after I type in my Warrior's name, Spike Lizard, I let it go for a while yet nothing happens. I even left it on all night to see if it progressed at all but it didn't.

Plez Help me!

this was in the other thread but didn't know about this one lol. I am creating a new warrior because I have to for it to work, and when I try Solo & Lan Everything is screwy I have my normal cursor showing up(not the triangular green one) and I can only strafe and go forward. not turn!

I'm assuming you used TRibes2FirstAid, right? before you patched it?

I don't think so
could be your problem. check files section on TWL here.

I have to hit ctrl alt delete to get outta it.
and where would I put that?
anywhere. its a program. here's the order (i think)

reinstall Tribes 2 ( DO NOT PATCH AND DO NOT START!)

run Tribes2FirstAid. make sure Tribes 2 cd is still in drive.

Download and run patches directly from TWL (do not use updater). Update Sierra Updater, then update Tribes.

change command line of Tribes.exe shortcut.

run game through shortcut.

BS, whenever I try to run the firstaid, it always says to insert my Tribes 2 CD and Try Again. I know it is in there, I even open the drive and shut it so I am totally, absolutely positively sure it is on my D drive.

Also, when I try the I drive where it says the CD is in, it says wrong Tribes2.exe, the one on my HD not on my Disc.

that helps alot
I think you need to point FirstAid to the tribes.exe on your disc. can't remember tho.
Try changing the target to CDynamix\Tribes2\GameData\Tribes2.exe -online -login usernamehere passwordhere for the icon. vgrd
I tried that, Yet, it makes me create a new warrior name, then it freezes, EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!
patch the game to the latest version before you run it
