Map Council

Is it an option now, if so, who is willing to participate? And would it even go through?

I don't have much to offer but some freetime and some webspace. But I'd like to see if it'd get going. If it gets going, I'll throw up some space and forums.

Talk. Rant. And Rave.

Map Council is already done, just waiting for z0dd or someone to put them together and make edits so we can all dl it.

Why wait on z0dd? There are quite a few other mappers out there.
And "Done"? Arn't more maps being released?

I'd suck cock if we could get this going. Well, not really. But still, some new maps, even if they were only pub worthy, would be nice to see.

A few people have sparked up interest in this in the last 2-3 weeks, I think the council may be back in action.

i have tried email, irc pm, and here in the forums.... smaq, if you will just tell me what maps, i can easily make the pack. any map that needs editing, no problem, just tell me what changes on what map. simple. will take you 15 mins of time at max, and give me a few days to get it all done... release, i can even host. just tell me what you want

i know smaq has been working with euro mappers in the weeks past, but i'm not sure how much success he's had with it.

K, so what happens now?

The editing of the maps is beyond just moving things around... z0dd is supposedly cleaning them up with some special pearl scripts he uses so that they don't have dead stops, or terrain bugs (mpb through map), or anything else of that nature... that's why he was chosen, cause as far as we could tell no other map makers had paid that kind of attention to the packs/maps they had realeased...

So assuming he's still doing that i would imagine it'll be about a month or so then we'll see the results of this whole project

(could be wrong though as it's been a while since i was part of any serious map discussions in the map council forums/irc)

i understand that karma. But lets at least get all the maps grouped up into 1 pack, fix obvious problems including known "toe hang" terrain problems, playtest, and get something moving here.

Karma that was the Plan. but z0dd was moving. unless some comes forward who has recently talked with him. id not only assume hes not online talking with us.. but that the map council project slowed to a halt (it is just a game after all and he DOES have real life concerns)

While that is fine as RL often takes gamers from there preffered Tasks. it does leave us Rudderless.

Smaqaho has been trying to remedy this but hes been doing it alone. Those in the map council - lets use our forums the way we were meant to. Bring Tech , Sage Dest, any other mapper volunteers , and Flyguy together to get these final edits done (certain polishing that needs done) and get this pack ont he road. z0dd may have tools/ abilities unaccessable to us. so i say we make due. even if it leaves a few dead stops and extra map lag. Unless someone who pays as finite detail as Him is brought onboard. Lets make and release the Pack.


If z0dd shows up 2 weeks later and says why did you release we have our reasons. he can always then do the polishing (IF ADMINS FELT IT STILL NECESSARY) and we could make everyone download another slightly altered Pack.

Id rather DL 1 pack now with all maps and completed edits. and then if z0dd shows back up DL a 2nd pack in 2 months or so (even if he showed up next week its still at least a month of work for him to complete what he had originally set out to do).

at least we can get things moving.

Flyguy- Youve got the expertise of at least assembling map packs (i cant remember if you personally made/edited some of the maps sorry)

and we all know you put plenty of time into this game. i would love to pair up with you- and collect us some Mappers- and do what our council set out to do. Lets talk on IRC tonight. I have scrim but should be around anytime after 9pm PST. i honestly wanna get this thing cookin.
