Darkstrand
Gunther (ppl raging thru tournaments cause of him on their team)
Astralis - lag capping etc
Nevares - lag capping etc
Hybrid - manipulating twat
Honorable mention: hexycane(2 good), tarzul, kryand, and twl.com
Darkstrand is my favorite. He is a master troll, I love his work. One of the better personalities in T2, a game seriously lacking in original personas.
I don't mind Gunther at all, I think people just try to create drama with people to fill some void and he is a willing participant.
I think Nev and Astralis are annoying and they probably cheat or have the worst connections ever but whatever, I don't mind it that much. Either I am awful (probable) or they need to cheat at a game a decade old or more to feel good about themselves. (Or the answer lies somewhere in the middle which is even more probable but not as fun to discuss) Whatever gives them or myself solace works for me.
Hybrid? I haven't really formed an opinion on him cuz I barely talked to him and have never played with him.
My major issue with a community this small and I encountered it in T1 is that once you get to this small of a group you know everyone and there is nothing really new to gain. Some people get better at the game or more interesting but not by dramatic amounts. Nearly everyone here is relatively grown up. You are kind of stuck with the people we have.
It reminds me of meets during the holiday season with extended family. You have not seen people for awhile and for a few hours you think "Why don't I see these people more often?" then at the end of the night you are like "That's why"
I love many of you but only want to see most of you a few times a year and unfortunately a game can't survive based on that type of attendance.
I wish there were more people like Darkstrand, Gunther, Astralis. Players who anger other players are funny and make the game more interesting, especially if they constantly kill and taunt you.
I think the people that killed Tribes 2 are the people that gave up early and said "fuck this, it's dead". In doing that, they killed it. So I'm not mad at the people that are touted as everyone's reasons for it dying, I'm mad at the nay-sayers. The ones that claim it's dead. Just stfu and play, and then maybe it's not.

Truest statement I've seen posted in a long time.
Quit bitching/blaming/accusing/being elitists - just come shoot people. Even better come pub in a semi serious non asshat manner and............the game will be more dare I say.........FUN!
No, you rarely see more than 30 active players. For an online game, I would say it's dead. You can play it, but you have no choices in servers.
Wanna play some tribes 2? Have fun playing on the only pub server populated, which is not even that populated anyway. If you don't like the server or it's players it's not like you got a choice to play on other servers.
A good example on old games that are not dead is quake 3, older than tribes 2 yet still has 100x more servers to choose from.

How many of those servers are populated by bots?
I remember liking Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, which has been free longer than T2. The last time I reinstalled it I couldn't find any actual humans playing it.

this thread is about the top 5 people that killed t2. please stay on track thanks.
I will not stay on track. You killed Tribes 2. You and all your haters that have said it was dead since 2004. Well, it's never died yet. It's only dead in your mind. As long as you believe it's dead, it'll die. But if you believe it's not dead, it's not. Just click play, guys. Come on.
i dont think blake and his crew played in 04 but what was killing t2 when i cameback again was the trolling and people being picky. Trolling is funny but when you only got 40 people who play all the time it gets hella annoying
On a serious note... trolls killed Tribes. No names- but we all know who they are.
There are two "principles" at play here.
One principle is that the older a game is, the more saturated with cuntfags the game's player population is.
This "principle" is a form of dissonance though. Because it directly conflicts with the next principle- when the shittiness of player's personalities outweighs the fun you get from playing a game, you stop playing the game. We all know this to be true.
There are plenty of other games out there that are newer, and are just as much fun- and these games have much bigger, and much kinder communities. Once someone realizes that, they leave. (Don't ask me why I pop in from time to time- I don't know.)
What players of an old game ought to be doing is be kinder to one another, and kinder to outsiders.
Rayne had the patience of a saint putting up with people's shit for so long- and he provided an awesome opportunity for us less fortunate to get a taste for how competition was done. He and Thyth prolonged the life of the game in positive productive endeavors.
But fuck that now. Some tards drove them away, as well as countless others, and now its starting to become rather obvious this game is now done for.
the ratio of skilled players to unskilled players in pubs killed tribes. ppl like tootz were trolled bcus they were easy to troll. on the other hand ppl like linchy are untrollable cus they doesn't give a shit. if u allow urself to be trolled then you will be trolled. smurfing, timescaling, and other drama killed tribes. you go into the pub and you will find all of the above. You will see smurfs talking shit to each other while a lag capper on stacked teams caps out 8-0 as 4-5 ppl spam voicepacks. the constant shit talking in irc killed tribes. ppl like enigma, rayne, anthem, and others dont even come to #lastgasp anymore cus of the shitshow. so to say t2 was killed by one person or one thing is wrong. although many sat out from killing tribes and just played tribes (rileygarbles, jsut, zephir...etc) many people as a group killed tribes (darkstrand, deklan, ownjo0, toys...etc)
at least you can admit it, slush. that is a good thing.
I for one can say I did let myself get trolled- I was an easy target, I wont deny it. But I will also say, once you're established as an "easy target" it becomes incredibly hard to get off of it. I can be proactive about how I feel about things- I can decide not to let things bother me. But when trolls see that resistance from anyone, and try to break it- trolling for months on end, to see when you'll next crack- who is really at fault, here?
appended: Another thing is, there are trolls aimed at individuals, and ones aimed at entire groups of people (like teams). And we definitely saw that happen a couple of times within these past few seasons too- like really cruddy rule-fucking, kicking, banning, etc. Slush, the stuff you listed out- those are what I would call group trolling.
In group trolling, it doesn't matter if you are "trollable" or not- its more of an outward everyone loses type of thing, because it usually directly impacts your ability to play the game.
And as I was saying- sometimes when you stop giving a fuck, you stop playing the game. Just saying. Post edited by Rooster128 at 1/17/2014 12:14:09 PM
Only people who aren't good at tribes are easy to troll. They should have learned to play so they couldn't be trolled and thus saved tribes. Way to kill the game rooster.

you only get trolled because they love you, they just want to prepare you for life. trollable is less like some erin brokoshitz persecution, and more like pvt. pile postmanning. to crack is to imply you always had a superficial shell containing the rage. just let it out bro, and we can all laugh together.
