Recently I released my T:A SDK and I'm now making a mod to un-bad the game.

To create the most badical mod ever and to unite the Tribes community, I will have a Tribal Council of elected representatives from each of the three Tribes games with five reps per game.

Candidate sign-ups will end at 2013-12-18 11:59 PM GMT, or more likely whenever I get on the next day. Then voting will begin.

Most people here think very poorly of Altimor due to his past antics (posting timescale in IRC, joining on bot accounts to spam etc.) but I think this might have some actual hope.

Yea he's young and threw a temper tantrum when he was banned, but I think there's some potential to this. Pending Hi-Rez doesn't step in and shut it down, this might be the chance for a trieb that everyone enjoys more than that shit Hi-Rez produced and called Tribes.

Regardless of his immaturity and whatnot, he's still an intelligent guy capable of producing something most of us might be able to enjoy.

People like ZP/Proj, and whomever else is actually active and understands the fundamentals, your opinions would be nice during this process imo. No one knows how this might turn out, but fuck what else are we doing? Signing up for a tourney that most people are done with?

This is a real last gasp (no pun intended) at hope for a Tribes game/mod that we all can enjoy and play. If you have played comp at a high level and/or actually understand fundamentals then go ahead and PM him and add yourself to the list. Would be nice for T2 community to have a solid voice in the decision making process going on during this development.

Bran #1, Fling #2 even though I don't think he'd be interested

Thaen, Thyth, Hybrid (maybe) all strong contenders off the top of my head.

Almost everyone else is too shady or has a past of breaking or bending rules for selfish reasons and shouldn't be considered imo.

EDIT: Even if the DS crowd (proj/zp) manage to convince me 100% that they're legit and always have been, their rule-bending, general cuntiness, and inability to empathize and compromise would discount them from the cooperative process completely.

Right, thanks for confirming that you're a cunt rather than trying to defend yourself. This is exactly the kind of antagonism that will get you no where in life.

And Gunther, sweetie, the nerds behind the scenes are needed right now because we're trying to do behind-the-scenes work. I know it's difficult to understand, but just go fix a leaky toilet or something until the beer makes you feel better.

T2's biggest technical issues are with cheat vulnerabilities, netcode, adding content like maps and mods required to make the game work, and stability. Thyth can help with those aspects.

I'm sure the other 4 can spend their days arguing about balance and game theory with those from the other game.

...not that this community can cobble together 5 decent people anymore. I take it back; you should grab zOdd and Zodd, ask them what they would have fixed with classic, then keep everything a secret so this community doesn't shit on it like it does with everything else.

so instead i'm going to say that proj will probably do a decent job of patching this up

most of the rest, well...

people always bring up names of decent players in these kind of discussions but they tend to forget you can be a decent player and still have a lacking grasp of the game fundamentals. Neither does skill automatically translate into ability to see the broader picture of minutiae tweaks, it is simply a pre-requisite.

you need to be both good and have an open analytical mindset

it's also super easy to be biased towards your "own" position/role/game/style of play/underwear, which ideally shouldn't happen

tl;dr: this community would be fucked if it would be tasked with designing a t2 successor today
