TOP 3 HO

Historical capture recovered from the Wayback Machine · captured 2014-04-26 · 48 posts
Many of us have been playing most of the tourneys. A few have been playing forever. Ho has evolved into diff roles since ip has become legal. Back in the day......Nevermind.

Who in your opinion are the best skilled 3 HO you have played with or against in a tourney season?

Warhero X-No one preps like this guy. No one. Total package HO and even better in a shrike. Smartest HO i have ever played with.
Kambul-Above average at everything in capture the flag. Good coms, great shot, great CG, and plays the flag very well. Makes the smart play 98% of the time.
AllEyes-Great attendance with a huge impact. Very smart with endless exp. Routes, spam, shielding, returns, coms, and calling it the way it is every time.

I have demos from warhero and kambul that i might put up later to prove why. Alleyes i have never seen a demo from ever but im sure he has a few he could put up to show why he is a top raper.

proj is a cacapoopoohead but for real, Tarzul is solid I'd rank him above me. Codeman, Rayne, Hybrid, Thaen, as well. Codeman needs to learn to HO grab more though AND GET A MIC! Now he's knocked down a peg actually for not having a mic.

Im talking about HO that stay HO the entire map. I have yet to see tarzul do that. He seems to think med/light shield behind flag stands with cj is effective.

g
Rayne, clownboat!!1, and Tarzul imho
some other good ones
prob hawson, tarzul, codeman 4 me.

darkstrand and thaen honorable mention.
Tarzul, Thaen, WHX for me. Rayne and All Creation are strong honorable mentions. I agree with AE about Codeman.

Guys like Self-Ownage might annoy me/kill me more, but these are the smart players who are doing their jobs of taking apart the entire team at the right times. Masters of the class for sure.

They are great skilled guys. But only one is a full time true HO. ALl the others will switch to light at one point if not a few times. This is about HO...True HO that are heavy the entire match.

If we were talking about O players...That can do it all i agree with alot of the listed names. But im talking pure heavies.

I mean when they are in heavy, they are the best.

if you've done your job playing HO, there are many chances for you to switch to light and make some plays while the enemy gets the base up.

such as - if the enemy base is raped and being held by a HO teammate of yours, why not switch to light and make a play at the flag? you can LO and clear the spawn D or even try to cap.

players like this make more of an impact than true HO.

Some call this style of play "swing". 5150 had sLaM do similar things.
Banshee, Hawson, and DS probably but there were a lot of good ones. *lurk*

Codeman is stellar with a HO lineup with RT to back him up and he dont have to talk or coms. That worked great for that ladder team. But tourney teams rely on more coms than knowing what the other dude is doing. That would be annoying as fuk.

After a few seasons of playing anti-HO I found Rayne to be a tough opponent. Everyone else was manageable or just didn't know how to act when you put a blaster in their face.
Id use a mine disc myself.

CPM is a dominate HO. He would be a top 3 for sure if he was HO the entire match. Ive seen him fuk some shit up.

Jimmy is a beast too with the CG and very smart player.

moral of the story is the best HO actually do something other than HO for part of the match

It depends a lot on the number of players per team and the situation occurring. I think its a good idea to play the flag as HO however in almost all cases. Just because you are HO doesn't mean you shouldn't be escorting flags home which have a higher chance at turning into caps or playing HD for a few moments as you are suiting up if necessary. And grabbing the flag and playing capper is very important if you are able to and if the time is right, even if you are in heavy shield.

You also have to play to a certain players strengths. CPM as an example might change up to something else like light cloak and still accomplish the objective, or perhaps even have an easier time. Other players though might be more wise to not attempt to try stuff like this. Its more arbitrary, what loadout or armor you have. The point is that whatever obstacle is cleared so your team can cap. That just usually means using heavy armor and shield pack. But as I've said, I think there are exceptions. And I would agree that these exceptions might be what sets some players apart from others.

I used to try and bend that rigid position role as much as possible when I played HD in seven man, but I wouldn't try the exact same thing in 10 or 12 or 14 or whatever. In seven man though, I would often view HD as a versatile position where you could change shit up. I would view any time spent in the base to be a waste of time usually, unless I was being double teamed or many players were attacking and I was being successful fending them off. So it would be a game of how much time I spend in the base and predicting enemy offensive moves so I can do other things. I would frequently switch up to sniper, usually hovering around the base enterence. I would try and snipe cappers and if any offense was coming in I would switch back to HD and resume position. I found this to be the most effective means of influencing the overall game. Usually in favor of putting out a farm.

I would also leave the base and fight HO outside before they even got a chance to get in or do damage. I would waste players time by getting them to focus on me instead of other things. I would also even attack the enemy generators if I was feeling particularly confident in my timing. On small maps I could have a large impact in this way. I don't think teams understood how much I could affect the entire game on smaller maps. For example, I could ruin your day playing HD and you wouldn't even realize it on Minotaur, where a lot of other players were basically doing nothing in the same position.

With that, I feel that HD is an underrated position which requires an in depth knowledge of whats happening all over the map. Its more about timing and using information to make good decisions about what you are able to do.

If you attack me with more than one guy and you don't stop me, I affect the game a whole lot as an HD. If you decide to attack me with one guy to simply keep me in the base, I can get my timing down and branch out and do other things to affect the overall game in ways other positions can't. You have to use a high degree of intuition and prediction of enemy movements.

I know this was supposed to be about HO. But whatever. The same principles apply to all positions really.

this list is dumb. whx doesn't prep. he shows up game day maybe if he wants to, plays with no sound and blasts opera music instead. he is an awesome ho and a play maker but not a top 5. kambul not a top 10 or 15 HO. top 3 HD however. all eyes p good.

Mistcane is beyond help. He sits in his moms basement all day all night. When you hear him talk he sounds like a stoner thats 45 years old with an iq of about 59. And he wonders why hes still a virgin. All he needs to do is listen to himself on a cast to realize what a burnout he is. You can fast fwd life 20 years and mistcane will be here and the same.

I thought his list was pretty legit - excluding Astralis. He can't HO.
Blake stop sucking Astralis dick plz ty

So you're the retard gunther LOLOL

Side note:
Why are you guys listing HO that don't even play anymore?
Isn't this thread about HO that still play?
Blake list not bad, but it includes a couple randoms that haven't played in a draft league in like the past 5-6 seasons.

1. Hawson
2. Tarzul
3. Codeman
4. Thaen
5. Hybrid

Honorable Mentions: KambuL, AllEyez, WHX, cBoat, crackpipemidget, OrieN

Won't include myself in my list, leave that for others to figure out. I tend to lean towards players who I think make the most intelligent game decisions as well as dominate at HO.
