Sniping

Historical capture recovered from the Wayback Machine · captured 2013-02-12 · 24 posts
I have never used the sniper rifle much as in the past I always felt it was used to much but I've decided to learn new roles and wanted to give it a go so was wondering if any skilled snipers here could point me in the direction of scripts/techniques to use as I literally have 0 experience sniping.
point n clik

only shoot when you know you're going to hit
sniping is ez to learn. Just point and click.
IP. any other script is cheating.

Best thing you can do is learn how offset IFF tags are over players' heads. fog sniping is 2ez once you learn that.

What about that reverse click snipe one? One that fires weapon on mouse release? Pardon me if I don't know the name. Just trying to be mother fucking helpful.

Storm I was talking to Blakhart about using IP for sniping but as of right now everytime I load interpolate it lags bad and im still waiting for him to send me a revised edit of the script for sniping. Is there a script for IFF tags or a place I can read up on snipe techniques? I would rather learn the proper way to do things early on then to have to relearn the techniques later.
yeah I have this technique called "aim at the guy" you should try it

it's super meta tho
If you have a strong grasp of vector analysis, polynomials, and gameplay based algorithims vis a vis routing on any given map you can really become efficient with the laser rifle but thats a lot of things to master and understand before you can roll with the big d0gs
Just start shooting at dudes. It's something that takes time to get a feel for.
Interpolate helps more than anything. Without it sniping is a horrible bitch because you actually have to lead a bit instead of aiming directly at them.

So basically you just should get the right IP settings for what your pinging to the servers

<80 - 5 25 0 0
80-120 - 7 33 0 0 (these were my settings and my cg/lr were pretty dead on most of the time)

I've also heard 80 80 80 80 works I guess but you should just stick to what you know works (ie the first two settings I gave you)

Other than IP sniping is just about being twitchy and being able to pinpoint your crosshair where the enemy is in an instant or leading appropriately and predicting where they are going to fly past then shooting
I like whatever script I have that auto-switches to sniper rifle (if its in my loadout) on zoom. idk name of it tho and too lazy to look. but yeah that shit is useful

lol hax
Don't you need a script to control zoom levels with mouse wheel?

HotRod 2cnts - positioning is something that people do not talk about often. the only people that are difficult to snipe are usually cappers that are smoking by, so try to minimize how much lateral movement the capper will have in relation to yourself.

If you are playing LoF - the entry/exit snipe is very easy as the lateral movement from cappers is fairly minimal.

If you are playing LD there are two options.
1. LD focusing on stopping capper - position yourself on a hill that is on the entry/exit route. makes snipes on cappers easier but might sacrifice some of your HO control.
2. LD focusing on stopping HO - If you can snipe from any position on the map and hit entry/exit snipes you are very valuable to your team

I agree.. time travel is inevitable. DOUBLE DOGGIN IT!
just wanted to thank rooster and stormcrow for the tips, my sniping game has improved drastically, now does anyone know what the proper IP setting for sniping is for a ping of 60-80?
