Nostalgia

So with nothing to do for the most part I've been watching a lot of my old demos and such.

Gotta say just watching those brang back some amazing memories of how much fun I used to have playing this game. Even back when there was still an (active) base ladder.

Also it's funny to go back and watch all those demos and see how much everyone really sucked back then and how easy it would be for teams to absolutely crush teams that were #1/2 at certain times.


So just to start a faggotry thread for the fuck of it, what are some moments like this for you guys? Moments that you can think of that just brings nothing but pure love for this game and takes you back to a better time when everything was awesome.

I have a couple

Back when I first started playing I was probably 12 years old or so and was incredibly immature. Even more so than now if you can believe it. I remember playing with guys and starting teams up called Dragon X and Shadow Dragons (I think c5 is the only person from those teams that is still around). Had a lot of fun playing around with those guys. Also my voicce was really high pitched so I remember tricking some people into believing that I was a girl over Roger Wilco.

Fuck. Roger Wilco. lol

Another would be just talking in the t2 irc back when there were 90+ people in there every day. There was this one duder on 57th squadron that absolutely hated me and I loved to annoy him in there. Always fun.

Oh and that glitch where if you sent someone a certain chat message on t2 irc and they were in game it would make them UE or disconnect (can't remember which it was).

or even writing html code in the browsers and making a totally awesome in game

Seeing The Wedge playing again.

I remember playing Vanguard in the the 2001 PNET tourney. My team was a mix of aussies, euros and americans. We were playing Slapdash and we had it all planned out (Havoc run and the works).


Game starts up and while we are still diddle daddling around loading the Havoc some =V= players turns up and shrikes us down, then a bomber turns up with two MO and a HO to camp our gens.

I think I was playing as HO then but switched to base chicken runner within minutes.

Our LD hung on for a little bit and returned a few flags but I think we were capped out within about 12 minutes or so.

The best well laid plans of mice and men....



I learned a lot about "initiative" though from that spanking.
