Everyone who still plays Tribes 2 today, and especially in these tournaments should be ashamed of what happened tonight. I have not been participating in the tournaments recently because they require too much of my time. That said, this week I logged on to IRC and chatted and played in a scrimmage Thursday and tonight was asked to substitute in a match where I saw the most disgusting display of sportsmanship I've witnessed in a long time.
I don't know what trash talk, and events lead up to tonight's stupidity, but I'm sure there was some, and I'm sure there was enough from both sides to go around. In the end, perhaps 50 minutes late, one team played with 10 players vs another with 12 players. How it got to that point, I don't know, I wasn't privy to most of it.
The result, I'm reminded of the worst side of competetive Tribes, and am not sad that I havn't been around. In short, grow up. Be mature, play the game honorably, and enjoy it for what it has left. I guess most everyone who played the map tonight, enjoyed the 50 minutes of stupid more than they enjoyed the game, and are probably pleased they sat at home and didn't actually play a match.
It's events like tonight, and the troubles that have happened in the past that destroy communities, and give people a bad taste for competeting at all. Why bother? It's often more trouble than it's worth. Food for thought guys.
