well it's not mine I just found it. I'm gonna look for some website with instructuion on how to watch the old demos, If I have no luck. Do you use Irc, or AIM or anything like that? Cause I just need to send you the old exe. and help you set it up so it all works.
yea homie im on irc all day... #lastgap
Brolly found it, thanks Brolly!
/files/dl/Tribes2/Tribes2Old.exe
OK, there's most likely a better easier way to do this than how I go about watching old demos. But this works well for me, and I'm just tryin to help Rancer out.
But what I do is this:
1)Take the Tribes2 exe out of your Tribes2/GameData Folder (put it somewhere safe where you won't lose it like you documents or any other non Dynamix folder). Or make a new folder in your documents just for old demos and the old exe.
2)Rename the Tribes2OLD exe to Tribes2 and put that in your Tribes2/gamedata folder.
3)make a new Desktop Short cut to T2, right click on it go to properties and put this in the Target line Area.
C: \Dynamix\Tribes2\GameData\Tribes2.exe -nologin
(eliminate the space above; bewtween C: and \Dynamix because it was posting asmiley face, lol).
Now launch T2 from that new shortcut.
You'll notice that only OLD demos will work, any new demos will be greyed out.
Also VERY important....
When your done, go into the GameData folder rename the Tribes2 exe to Tribes2Old, and put it in the folder where you put the original Tribes2 exe. Then just put the original Tribes2 exe back in the GameData folder and your good to go.
There's probablly easier ways to do this where you can leave them both in the Game data folder, but I just don't wanna take the chance of mixing the two up. Sometimes I'm forgetful. So yea it's pretty easy anyway.
Enjoy watching those old demos. Put the old demos you want to watch in the base/recording folder of course.
I'll try and log into #lastgasp tommorow to see how you made out.
If you have any other questions you can post them here.
Also if anyone has an Easier way of doing this (I'm sure there is) please don't hesitate to share.
