timescaling, timescaling, timescaling.... stfu already :E

OK. There's only two things to sort out about this so let's get them sorted already.

1. Can it be caught? (everyone i've asked has no ideas for this.)

2. If not, don't you think the correct move is to make sure everyone has it? Otherwise how would it be fair? Simply, it wouldn't. There would always be the haves and have-nots.

For me, it should be caught, classic is fast enough. But, for the life of me I have no ideas on how to make that happen.

Watch their demo and look at their walking speed on a speed hud.

if you can detect it via walking speed, could it be scripted server side to check players for it?

this is good except it can be turned on and off. ie turning it on mid-ski coming in then back off when u stop ski. however it will be good enough to catch most players who arent on top of it enough to activate/deactivate at appropriate times.

I don't even know if this is serious or not, but I'll respond anyway.

I think that there are times where players won't appear to lag unless they are interacting with something.

For example, a player can be moving along then suddenly spike as a disc or a BB would have hit them. In reality, that player was lagging all along, but it just didn't show for whatever reason. Similarly, some people only seem to lag with the flag because they start interacting with the flag, and therefore the lag shows.
I could be wrong, but that's what I've observed and what I think. Maybe someone could shed some light on a solution for it because it's really annoying to see someone spike out of a great MA/BB/MD.

If someone does this then maybe looking at how fast their energy is regenerating when they have it on would do it.

And lag doesn't really show up in demos.

nev is better than the rest cause he is always high as a kite. thus, he is lighter allowing him to move faster.

It speeds up all sorts of things. It increases energy regen rate, but it also decreases your energy more quickly. You cannot infinitely shield pack with timescale.

not that i'm trying to give people ideas, but i imagine couldn't someone script so that timescale is normal when you turned the sp on (so goes down normally or even slower if you put timescale slower) but then have timescale go up when you turned the sp on? Kinda like how you can script IP to work only with certain weapons?

I can't believe this guy is still crying about cheats. It amazes me. I guess its easier to just label superior players cheaters than it is to try and surpass them in skill.

I've been playing tribes for over a decade. I don't think cheats are really even necessary for me to be successful.

I was on the team little that cheated with adam and ekos not cheerios and kmz.

wouldn't you agree a cheater is someone who intentionally modifies their game to gain an advantage? e.g. increased cloak pack sounds and auto-waypoints?
