Problem...

I recently upgraded my PC, to a 64bit system. Since then, when I play T2, my ping goes crazy. Sometimes its fine, but most of the time, when I do something sudden like disc jump, my ping will jump to 999. Sometimes it goes back to normal, but usually it just stays @ 999. When I leave the server, and refresh all the T2 servers they all ping fine. Ive reinstalled T2, with no scripts installed and still find the same problem.

Ive adjusted my texture settings and that doesn't fix the problem either. Ive run tests on my isp and everything checks out fine there.

I don't play T2 much anymore (maily cuz nobody does) but I would like to figure out the problem...

AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core 4200+
1 gig DDR2 memory
Geforce 7900 GT
I have the same chip as you if yours is a AM2 socket. I also had problems with T2. The way i fixed mine was when i start up T2(DT shortcut) and when at the login screen tab out and hit ctrl-shift-esc and find the T2 exe, right click it and select set affinity then uncheck one cpu and hit ok. This has to be done everytime i start T2, im sure there is something else that can be done to have it set to one cpu, but to me its not that big of deal since i only play T2 a few times a week.

Hope this helps. If you dont have a AM2 socket, then get ahold of Linchy, he has some other ideas.
Wasn't there a gaming fix for dual core amd stuff from M$?
Thanks snake, that fixed the problem. I did bump into this today, haven't installed the driver yet....

that driver did not help me, i think is was for the 939 pin set not the AM2 socket. I could be wrong, but it did nothing for me.
i will always keep my shitty old pc, its sole purpose will be to run t2 smoothly.
