Is there such a cheat?

I was checking out some of the demos and found one with our clan name attached to it....it said it was a demo of someone using a mortor/beacon/waypoint script where as the enemy can see/waypoint all your deployables even fom out of visual sight.....so i watch the demo (by the way....there was nobody from my clan in demo, not sure why our clan name was assiociated with it, but whatever, i digress) as i watch it i can see very clearly that the heavy was able to mortor deplyables (any type) with pin point accuracy....so to be sure it was random mortor fire....the demo maker placed an inv way out of normal game play but still inbounds....the heavy mortored it dead on from out of visual sight......is there such a cheat script?....I beleive i witnessed this again in a TWL match and just want some clearification.

thanks
oh no, here we go....
Hi,

He asked an honest question. Phierce (of dRats) and others demoed a player doing something like that. It was a demo of DildoFactory (at that time. He changed his name to fagmo later).
I happened to see it as well. It WAS fishy.

Phierce would have the info I'm guessing.

Jim
Yes it does exist, but imo rarely is this ever used compared to the masses out there.

Just so you don't get things mixed up here, pinpoint accuracy can be done with the mortar for *static* targets using a waypoint in the air for reference and one for which the player stands, but it is NOT the same thing as the autobeacon cheat which seems to have a targeting beacon on all deployables thus let you fire from anywhere in range with movement.

Most of the people who make cheating accusations out there just need a reason to bitch for their loss. I had someone accuse me of using a "pixel chaser" when every one of my blasters hit with the shrike when he was falling down during his ski run.
Congratulations, you have started the 402380932845320984098th cheat thread.
well....if anybody knows of any other demos of such a thing let me know....as JimBodkins said....it WAS VERY fishy if u saw the demo by dRats
In pub CTF games, I sometimes use the laser to check out my target. Then I proceed to hit them with nearly pinpoint accuracy with my mortar. Does that make me a cheater? NO.

Knowing the range of a grenade-type weapon is crucial to its proper usage. Just knowing the exact distance and height of your target in comparison to yourself can mean the difference between a single mortar killing something and the waste of mortars and possibly alerting the target to your presence. Blind firing can also easily be done if you know the exact distance between you and a target.

So stop talking about it.

Um, this is true, however, killing invs like 800m OOB in a crevas with no clear line of sight, is beyond mortar tactics.

:>
Doesn't really bother me because no one would dare use it in competition.
If the other team sees it and demos then the shit will hit the fan. The person (or team) who cheats like that would probably be blacklisted from a lot of things.

Is there a cheat where the e. can see your beacons that you place? Not sure if its just the place where I set it up but if I put a beacon on a station mins. later it gets killed but I dont....it stays up for awhile.

wow i like your sig
It has nothign to do with whether you place a beacon or not it seems.

Watch those recordings out there, and you'll see mortars(and grenades at times) nail deployables dead on right after each other when Dildo never had line of sight.
Erm...

Yes there is a cheat that does this but most people don't want to run a hacked exe.

800 meters? Are you on crack? Last time I checked the mortar has a range of like 400 meters.
To anyone doubting the existence of this cheat:

I saw the demo, and I am almost never one to accuse anyone of cheating. But this guy definitely had the happymod autobeacon. He was hitting deployed turrets/sensors/inventories with pinpoint accuracy, and without the assistance of a targetting laser before or during the shots.

i think most of the resistance to cheat threads is because alot of players do in fact have these cheats and this type of talk makes them self-conscious. i think there are alot of cheats that can't be detected other than their performance. I know no solution to this problem, so i will stfu.

could you link the demo so all can see and judge for themselves. I think the bestway to deter cheaters is to publically link the incriminating demos so all can decide for themselves. then over time we will all have a good idea who belongs on a hall of shame. exploit these motherf#$kers.

When the inv is 800M OOB and a heavy ski's in that exact direction until hes close enough to kill it. Thats weird.

I don't even remember how long ago this was. It was one Rollercoaster from a LD's POV. Not a match either but a pub game. I have no idea where I downloaded it from. All I know is a link to the download was posted here a long time ago. Just kind of amazing to see mortars landing DIRECTLY on top of deployable sensors.

I use a rangefinder, but it's not a script. It's called "my eye".

The demo was publically released a few months ago. I think either NQP or 4M released it. I think it showed SH, too. In either case, the demo was released a few months ago.

The spamming HO are usually using waypoint type scripts that have been made offline. They *seem* like they are hitting random spots with pinpoint accuracy, but they are really just following their points (doors, turrets, flag, good inv spots, etc)

The mobing HO that ski around your base and kill everything can be using colored invos and turrets. I have seen too many HO come over the front hill of Beggars and immediately drop mortars before they could reasonably locate, target and fire. Methinks bright yellow invos and turrets help.

Then there are the top 5% of HO, that have been doing this so long that they make everthing look like a cheat because you can't believe they really are that good.

The L button on your keyboard activates the rangefinder cheat.
If someone lases a target for me I can ski in and hit it very quickly.
If you can prove someone's cheating, hoist 'em by their petard.
If you think they are cheating, get proof.
Otherwise, why sweat it?
In competition, I have seen very few REAL cheats.
I've seen questionable behavior, and suspicious play, but out and out cheating in Tribes 2, nah.
Pubs? Who knows...
That has hapened to me before in a scrim with a pretty good team, but i also got sniped underwater, in the middle of nowhere by that team....*cough*clearwater

For the demo...search the TWL demo page for the following:

Up Load = 7/9/02
Ladder = T2 CTF - 12 man
Team 1 = Desert Rat
Team 2 = Lords of Honor

PoV = PHEIRCE

For all u posters who say its probobly skill, laser usage first, knowing where map turrets, sensors are, ect.....read the entire original post.....it would save u alot of time writing the obvious. When u hit a deployable inv oov (out of view) in the middle of nowere...som'tin is fishy.....just watch the demo.
Ive noticed that when I beacon inventory stations they tend to get morted ALOT more than the non-beacond ones... and not by my own team.

What would be interesting to see is to place an invint, with a beacon, and about 30 m away, an invint without a beacon, and see which one gets morterd...
