You also can't have a very enjoyable game with skilled players but horrible mechanics that allow for simple victories...
Um from what I;'ve seen in pubs its like 1/3 dont care, 1/3 love it, 1/3 think its fun to pub but will be shitty for match play.

Ill pub comp mod to death. then again owning renegades pubs is fun as well.

I like what its trying to do. I like speed. Its just TOO EASY to get that speed.

I should not be able to HO cap maps w/o ever seeing the map before. Routes should be something thats needed to be learned to be effective. The t1 style speeds dont work well with t2 style maps. lush rolling hills is too easy. Sure it makes the Ld work harder. but +I
want the HO to have to work to be good at what they do. not just see some route on the fly that works fine as its going now.

Horrible Mechanics: Purely the opinion of someone... In this case, it should be the opinion of the community. Horrible Mechanics though could be Incredibly Awesome Mechanics for others because it's an opinion. Hence the reason I didn't explain EXACTLY what they are, mainly cause I don't know how the ENTIRE community sees it, and I have my opinion of it, but it's not the same as everyone else.

Simple Victories: Ones that don't require much teamwork in this case at all, you must remember that this is a TEAM GAME, not a SOLO GAME like CS was. Sending 8 HO (exagerated I know, but it's been said) to keep a base totally raped and the other team having no chance in hell from stopping it, which in turn allows for your cappers to chain cap with no resistance is called a simple victory. Now, the 8 HO is fine, if it's stoppable easily enough, and also if recoverable after being entirely raped, then that's a tough fight... Basically, it's not simple if the tides of war can be changed easily while in the game. Fast Shutouts are easy games.

Again, those are all opinions right... So I can't really point fingers at who wants the both of them... Cause basically the ones I think want that, are the ones that think I want the same thing cause of the way I think the game should be played... Hence the dilema.... Did I explain well enough?

You will not be forced to play Comp Mod. Garage Games is patching T2 base, and Sierra is adding on top of that Comp Mod and Team Rabbit 2. In fact, TWL has said that it will not close the T2 Base active ladders.

actually, TWL has said nothing officially. That doesn't mean that they won't close the base ladders. Hell. They could just drop T2 except for ninja mod if they wanted. Sure it'd piss of the community, but that's completely their decision.

They said they would not be closing active ladders, specifically in reference to the 7 and 12 man base ladders, which still seem to have strong followings.
chioxin, im afraid you dont know much about what makes for good gameplay.

you offer nothing to support your argument other than generalized rhetoric that serves no purpose.
Alright Rebel.. I kinda new that... Anyway, My view of gameplay for T2 would be this... And I think i stated it kinda above, maybe not.

The mechanics should suit the idea of team play, not the idea of solo people who are incredibly good or else T2 would turn into CS. So to me, this means that battle should be even all the way through... Right now (well, now they've patched it, so I gotta see) whoever could rape first and hold would in most cases win unless they fucked up somehow. It shouldn't be like that, it should be able to change through out the entire map, where teams change up strats to get their base back. I've yet to see anyone say they can do that after they've been completely wiped cause with the speed, as sson as you kill the ho, and then the rest of his friends, that first HO is back in your base again and there wasn't time to repair or anything. That's bad to me and basically says no team work, it's just who can get their HO there the fastest. The only way to stop this is to maybe weaken your offense, but then they will strengthen it and the fight is at your base the entire map. The game should shift, the fight should nto stay at one base the entire map, the fight should move between them as teams change up strats and try to get out of a whole (unless they suck of course, then they need to learn from the experience.)

As for what game mechanics would help promote the above idea, I think with all the added speed, there should be more terrain you must cross to reach the other base. Or you can make the bases harder to rape (turn them into fortresses) then you can keep the bases close together, cause even with 8 HO, it's hard as hell to get to those genz. I would even go as far to say make the bases like Recalesense and Thin Ice, but put the flags outside... Flags should always be outside cause that promotes speed which is what the cappers want, but that's the other problem, with speed that cappers get, there should be ways to counter that or else it's to easy.

To counter the speed of cappers the LD need something to get them moving close to the same speed as the capper. Ya routes are great and fine and stuff, but LD really don't have routes they can follow cause they don't know INSTANTLY where the capper is going yet and also they aren't moving at the same speed initially. THERE MUST BE CHASE, this is why ++ was great, cause the LD had a chance to catch up due to the ability to make up routes on the fly, it was still a skill though cause you could hit the wrong thing and then just be stuck on the ground with no energy/speed and then the capper was gone already. So as for capping, I think they need to help LD be equals to the capper or else you end up with A.) Stand offs or B.) Cap outs in first 5 minutes. Both of which are boring.

If you want action, take steps to create the action, but realize there are two sides that like different action. D likes it as well as O, D likes speed as well as O, but D doesn't like it when they don't have a chance in hell to catch someone or when they are constantly having to repair things that stay up just long enough for MAYBE one HO to get out before the enemy has 8 HO in there again. I'm still not sure how MFing works.. again, like cappers, for the MF it was great to be able to make up routes on the fly cause you had to get from point A to point B to catch the HO...

Anything else rebel?

I fully agree with Godadone. No you aren't forced to play Comp, but TWL will probably dissolve other ladders, including B++. So if you want to go pub some other server without compmod, then too damned bad when we kick yer browneye in a match.

As for balance issues. I think it's great. Every match i played at UVALAN4 was great. I'm looking forward to playing CompMod on TWL since i keep discing myself for no reason in B++

I think it was taxi who said- base tribes is the JERRY KIDZ ladder. Base is dead, no competition left
TWL will still have a ladder I'm sure, don't assume anything, I doubt they'd dissolve it, 16 man I dunno, but 12 man is active.
Dude, Chio your talking out your ass. Alot of base++ teams have plays....

Why? Its been provem to be very fucking confusing. You bring up the fact of HO, well no shit, they are supposed to rape a base. Sending the "8 HO to keep an enemy base down" has been proven very effective in t2. The defense is still coordinated there, and so is capping most likely on a good team.

16 man base is already dissolved. But Vlasic has already stated no active ladders will be done away with.

I didn't recall saying 8 HO was bad... atleast in ++ it's semi stoppable mid field right, or in other words, 2 good MF's can stop atleast 4 of the 8 HO and then hopefully the base D can deal with the rest... if I said it was bad i'm sorry, that's not exactly how I meant it... lemme refraze that actually... Sending 8 HO flying over the heads of the MF's who can't catch up to them or atleast distract/knock off course is not right. Again though, Zodd has changed this so I must go see for myself :P

Ya, Capping and D is very coordinated in ++, currently it doesn't sound like that in CompMod cause they feel they can't do anything except for DJ to have a CHANCE at catching the capper, which makes the LD weaker when chasing cause they have less help, nothing sniper can't handle... Did I say D wasn't coordinated in ++??? I guess I'm REALLY trying to figure out where you're coming from in your comments there. Sorry

Look, I know this is an online forum, but everyone is gonna have the same patch/physics/mortar range/gravity/etc.... as everyone else.

When they finally release the patch, and everyone has to "upgrade" to compmod, your gonna have to play it whether you like it or not.

I can't tell anyone to quit bitching, but if you don't like what the majority wants and does, either leave the game or set up your own base ++/base ladder. See how many people join that.

Wait till the patch comes out and is implemented before you bitch about something that you haven't seen in action yet.

Everyone in the game will have to re strategise when this thing comes out and yes everyone will bitch. But if you hate it so much, then why are you playing the game?

Actually if the speeds stay as high as they are and they leave in the mine/disc I will personally stick with Base++ servers and avoid Comp/Mod like the plague. I will play Team Rabbit 2 because that will give me the Arcade Game feel for Tribes 2. Comp/Mod gives me more of a Ultra Renegades feel and that's not really fun for me.
