Ok, the time has finally come. Defense Turret (DT) in its current version will become mandatory on ALL TeamWarfare Tribes 2 ladders, starting with any match accepted on Monday, 03/01/04. DT client and server-side download information on DT installation can be found here.
Servers that do not have DT running will be ineligible as of 03/01/04. Any use of a server without running DT could result in said server being disallowed from any current and/or future matchplay.
Any possible updated versions of DT will be legal for match play only upon admin approval.
Look for ladder rules to be updated soon.

Additional Notes:
If you're having issues with DT, I am sorry. There have been many fixes offered to help these people, so if you're experiencing problems with DT, be sure to ask for assistance. For example, try running DT on a clean install in order to ensure you are not experiencing a script conflict. A "clean install" does not mean a "reinstall of T2", it means you install T2 to a new directory, update to current version, then install/try DT (without any additional scripts installed).
If you are finding you're getting errors involving illegal textures, when you start up T2 with DT, try this (without running DT): ftp://ftp.slingscripts.com/Ilys_Scripts/checkCRC.vl2
If you are getting UE's immediately upon starting up T2, make sure you're not having a video card driver issue. Try a newer/different driver, or search the threads on the T2 forum to see if anyone else is experiencing the same problem as you. If you are sure there isn't already a thread that discusses your specific issue, feel free to make a new thread, and possibly someone can help you out.
Refreshing the server list UE problem, has nothing to do with DT. Try making a "filter" for Classic/current version servers only, to eliminate this problem.
No, DT isn't perfect. Yes we'll be using it. Just as teams are able to switch out a map to something both teams agree upon, DT can technically not be used in a match as long as both teams agree. If not, DT will be required. That means, if there is no "match comm" communications with both teams agreeing to not to use DT, then it will be assumed that DT is mandatory.
If you are having problems installing it, please refer to this thread:

These are the four lines that need to be placed in your ServerPrefs.cs file before starting your server with DT:
$Host::DefenseTurret::Active=1;
$Host::DefenseTurret::Optional=0;
$Host::DefenseTurret::RequiredInTourney=1;
$Host::DefenseTurret::MaxWptHeight=10000;
(The current "Max Waypoint Height" is set to 10,000)

Edit: I added some notes, download links, and a "how-to" link. Also, the official change to DT has been pushed to March 1st, to make sure all servers are updated, and running current version of DT (1.5.2).
