hey all,

so I upgraded from a geforce 4 ti 4200 to a bfg geforce fx 5900 today, and immediately went to T2 and maxed out all the graphical settings (they were at about 75 - 80% previously). obviously there should be no framerate issues, ever. however my fps is MAXING at about 45. I went indoors on kata just now and the fps dropped to 25 steady.

should I reinstall t2 or something?

in contrast, I turned all the settings up to max on call of duty and the game runs beautifully, and cod has much better and higher detailed visuals than t2, so if my system can do that it should handle t2 easily. here's the rest of my hardware:

abit nf7-s nforce 2 revision 2 mobo
amd athlon xp 2600+ @ 2.25 ghz
512 mb corsair xms pc3200 ram
forton sparkle 350 psu

any suggestions?

make sure vsync is always off.
With my old computer when i tried to upgrade my graphics card, it just couldnt handle it & all my games were worse. Everything ran bad, so it might be that your computer cant handle that card. That is a pretty powerful card.
what drivers are u usin, the forceware 50s dont werk to well with t2. if ur usin em try goin back to sumthin like 4523s. ive heard of some ppl havin succes with 5270s in t2 with the fx series i believe. just play with em and see what werks

ah good idea about the drivers I hadn't thought of that. I'm using 53 03 right now. guess I'll downgrade to 52 70 and see how that works.

I think vsync is off but good idea I'll double check it

thanks for the suggestions, I'll post back tomorrow with the results

If I remember correctly, the Detonator bug which causes FPS loss with Tribes 2 was introduced with driver set 52.xx, and exists in all newer drivers. The bug only affects certain video cards with drivers 52.xx and newer.

The bug is on the plate to be fixed, but for now, I can say with certainty that the 44.03 Detonator driver set does not contain the T2 bug, so I recommend using them.

Help from a Renegades player, be aware: Use the the 45.23 or the 43.45 Drivers, they work best for T2.
ugh this is a pain.. use drivers that aren't as good for other games so I can play t2... I'll try for something just under 52 series.. will do it later today when I feel like getting pissed off with driver installation issues
