NA Fall League - 2009: Rule Change Proposals

Historical capture recovered from the Wayback Machine · captured 2013-02-12 · 15 posts
Is there a current NA League rule you would like to see changed? Is there a rule we don't have that you think we should? Is there a rule you think we should do away with?

If you answered yes to any of these question, this is the thread for you to offer up your opinions for discussion with the rest of the community.
Sudden Death Overtime.

I think more over-times make for much funner matches. Also, this rule is the reason we got knocked out a few seasons back when the OT map was border.

Just continuous OT till one team fails.
I know its been brought up before and has been shot down but I would still like to see a league where we had 4 quarters instead of 2 halves. It Also would like to see total rounds based on map size instead of the usual 12.

3 min maps=20 rounds
4 min maps=16 rounds
5 min maps=12 rounds

If this is gonna be the last league might as well try to spice things up a bit
One other thing that would be awesome.

Allow all weapon slots on Urban Assault.

That is all.

it did used to be 12 though, then CAL died and I believe thats when it went to 14.. amiright?

anyway.. not that I'll even play but I kinda like Delvo's ideas.. would spice things up.. alternate every 4 rounds.. make it 16 rounds.. or every 3 and make it back to 12
If we were to go back to having overtime I would definitely want to go back to 12 rounds instead of the current 14. I do kind of like the idea of swapping every 3 rounds for a total of 12 rounds providing we keep the mission planning at 1 minute (people should already know the maps and should not need much time during the match to "plan").

As far as OT goes I would limit it to Urban, SS, and MOUT (if we have OT). Perhaps the first team to win 3 rounds in OT wins the match? Personally I have never been a fan of sudden death OT.

we could do like a tennis-style OT (like a deuce) where you have to win two rounds in a row (presumably swapping every round) to win the match. That would ensure it's even side-wise.
sup guys, long time. I am just dropping by, not really active again as of yet.

You guys may be on to something here... as for the added rounds (i.e. 16 - 20) not good, this is due to the rounds won coming into play to decide playoffs and such and thus some maps would hold more weight than others and such...

However, the idea of switching I do like very much. even at 12 rounds it could be done... say you start on defense and play 3, then switch... then after a chance to adapt, learn, overcome, or whatever you so it again 3 and 3. This may help alot of teams and hurt others, but either way it would spice things up a bit and even the playing field some... I like that idea a great deal.
what about the point system?

changing it to:
3 pts for win
1 pt for a tie
0 pts for losing or showing up
-2 pts for no show with 3 pts to the winner

that would take out any overtime debate.

but if you do decide to go with OT(i dont mind that either)- but i think receiving 1 pt just for showing up is wrong. you sign up "to play", should not be rewarded just for showing and saying "hey im here, gimme my free pt". I think pts should be earned, minus a no show in which you should get the 3.

19 teams with ZERO advertising outside of this forum. Seems pretty good to me.

2 round on each side will make it quicker.
