..that the game slows down to fit the performance of the slowest computer in a match. The game plays slow for me cuz my pc sux . Gonna lay off generals till after I go to hawaii..then I'll get a gf4 and more ram

Yeah, it sucks. It seems computer speed affects game lag more than connection speed.

Connection speed doesn't seem to be a problem in this game as stated. I played a guy who was on 56k but the game was one of the faster ones I have played. He had a very fast computer and so it shows that dial up works well with this game assuming you don't have aol and your computer is fast.
PIII 1 gig, gf2, 256 ram, roadrunner cable online. The game is slow as fuck. It doesn't lag, but it just progresses quite slowly. There is a huge difference there.
well your system is barely over min. and your gf card sucks with 256 memroy is also kinda low. That would explain a lot. I am sure people are trying to play this game with 300 or 400's because i have had games where it took me a half hour just to make a gat tank and a flame tank to rush the guys base and then of coarse the slow pace of the units moving to the other side. Should have gone on a run after I started them building because I would have made it back in plenty of time.

been that way since the beginning, just makes everything fair, thats all
Well if the game's slow generally it's because the on at the other end haven't realised that to improve gameplay speed he needs to lower is gfx just tell him =)

So...you're saying all RTS games have been like this since the dawn of time? K..wrong...if you're referring to this game, well I didn't know cuz I just bought it 2 weeks ago smart guy tnx.
I'm running a PIV 1.6ghz, 512 RAM, GeForce 3 Ti 200, with Comcast Pro cable, but must set all graphics as low as I can stand if I want it to run smoothly.

ill take it from the top

no, i never said "All RTS's"

u ever played C&C online before this, you would know

as far back as RA1 my friend
also dont u think it would be the dumbest thing ever to have some1 building faster than u just cuz his comp is faster?

gay as hell
<--- waits for omni to give him the tag so he can jump in the ring on Zombies stupidity.
I have P4 1.5 256, Radeon 128mb, AT&T Broadband.
Even in single player game stalls for couple seconds in the beggining. For example: when I'm building a new structure or orderring my all units to move.
But, if I play online it doesn't do that as often.
I guess that I have to upgrade my RAM to 512, to improve performance.
As far as online games go, well C&C does not have a good net code (ex. Battlefield 1942) unlike some other games from EA like MOHAA (not the Spearhead). So best choice would be to play with somebody who has good connection and decent system.
EA should come up with pach to fix this issue. (yeach, right, what are the chances of that happening)
By the way, does anybody know what 1.5v pach is all about?
yes but your still below the recommended computer but above the minimum.
256 RAM is most likely a big contributor to your problems.. upgrade to 512 at least.. its cheep cheep now.. http://www.newegg.com
The net code is pretty good, it's all about one computer most of the time.

Not always the case Zombie.

I've played with some of the CkB boys and it usually slowed because if the person hosting has a slow upload rate the rest of us feel it. But to counter that drop your detail level to low and it should run even smoother.
