Should I Buy C & C Generals

hey everyone now that jk2 is dead im lookin to move onto another good game my friend Necrosis now plays C&C and says that I should get it. So I would like to hear your opions on the game before I go out and buy thanks

Generals kick ass

Biggest downfall of the game is the speed at which shit goes down. My GOD it's slow as HELL!! Had a game that lasted well over 1.5 hours last night..that's rediculous in my opinion. 1.5 hours = 3 games in warcraft time. Other than that, it's teh win, as necrosis said. Angry Mob pwnage on ur @$$

I like it, and have recommended it to several people. You shouldn't buy it though

Oh, and you can't compare times in any strategy game to times in WC3 - it's much different from any of the others.

yes wc3 is a completly different game, generals in my opinion is more like starcraft, buy generals if you like strategy games and you wont be disapointed

I dunno..all my friends bought it and returned it because the gameplay was far too slow. I can deal with it, though it is annoying at times.

Games shoulden't last 1.5 hrs. What country do u use?

hmmmm seems like a pretty good game sounds like it to. But 1.5 hour matchs Ill have to read up on that

I use GLA, Necrosis. Freaking gay ass map...way too many resource places..so it turned into 'supply drop tag' for awhile...I totally pwned him with mobs and quads until I had made a final push into his main. He was USA...and sat and turtled...and particle-cannoned now and then. I'd send terrorists in techs....killed his power...then he just rebuilt them..it was a pain in the ass.

and the mob only gets owned if you guess it's coming. Way too many GLA just do terrorist rushes and then send assloads of mauraders...or so my experience has been. I'm gonna start cutting back on mobs and add some hijackers...possibly offensive demo trap enemy power sources...2 demos cuts the power but it's hard to pull off.

I like CNC because of the strategies involved... a good player could control a map with 6 tanks escorted by rockets and 4 jets.

The balance is awesome, it's a rare RTS game that I don't lose and commplain about how I hate rushes...

They didn't add a stupid unit that was so overpowered that when he had you were basically dead.

I must say, play in 800/600 for a top speed, don't put details to max in competition play.

There'S a difference with competition and casual playing. My best exemple is RTCW. When I play for fun, all my graphics are at max with every details and all. When I play in competition: I have 0 texture, 0 details, explosion, no fog, no special lightning effect, no uber sounds, no caracter details and etc...

I'm not saying to tweak CNC until it's unplayable but make sure you have a smooth gameplay so both players can have a terrific experience. The game is very fast btw.

First of all...C&C Generals is a kick a@@ game.
As far as 1.5 hour maches are concerned, if you are trully enjoying the game you will not conplain about how much time it takes to scare the hell out of USA and GLA forces with Nuke Cannons and Overlord Tanks (yes, I'm playing with China, shame on me).
Some players spend countless hours playing games like Anarchy Online or Morrowind (did I spell that right?)not that I'm saying that those games are bad, I'm just saying that those games are not for me.
My poing is: YOU CAN'T JUDGE IF THE GAME IS GOOD OR BAD BY THE AMOUNT OF TIME IT TAKES FOR YOU TO LOOSE (OR WIN)
and yes, C&C Generals is very balanced game.

heh, i played C&C Gold on my little 133mhz 16mb ram system back in the day
Never really liked the expansions they made, Red Alert, bah, Yuri, pfft, and i only liked WC2, got bored of it quickly.
I RTS games and few keep my appeal, Empire Earth, Age Of Mythology, Medieval: Total War <--- all great games
When i first hear about C&C Gens i thought "C&C on a 3d engine finally "

and yea, when i was playing as the chinese, i had 2 Overlord tanks, on one of them i built a propaganda tower, to heal etc, on the other, a gatling gun, surely took care of any infantry coming at me along with them i had 5/6 battlemasters, a building holding 10 rocket troops and 2 dragon tanks using firewall on the main route the enemy was coming in, i totally owned the middle of the map from anything he sent, built up my forces and finished him off with my units and a few nuke cannons
anywho, buy the game, its great.

Correction: EA Delivered. Westwood didn't make this game. Common mistake.

Games should never last more than 45 mins unless your being gay and using a turtle stratgy, and your opponent has no clue how to play against it. Most goos 3v3/4v4 games may be a bit longer though.

with a lot of Westwood people, EA ate westwood

i think EA should take some advice on how to do the online part, Westwood's online experience was unmatched

i also hate to see Frank Klepacki no longer in the mix (Westwood's music guy)

No, no, no...Blizzard's online experience is unmatched. Good as it may have been, I doubt it could compare to battle.net.

generals is a great game. It is a bit slow and the units move pretty slow. But a GREAT game!

but lets not forget that for a long time battle.net was pretty much destroyed by people with cheat programs and such where as westwood online never really experienced a problem like that.

don't get me wrong though starcraft still kicked ass but i could never get into warcraft.
