nit-picking

I was looking at the rules for Spearhead Round Based Team Death Match, and it's indicated that the interval between spawns should be 5 seconds - but isn't round based no respawn?????
Yes, its probably a left over setting from the TDM. Setting it to 5 shouldn't affect anything however so it shouldn't be an issue.

i know, just nit-picking

OK - now a serious question regarding server selection.

I checked SH classic TDM, TOW, and RBM, and they all contradict themselves the same way:

server info
If each squad has a server, the defending squad chooses the server.

server selection
If a neutral server cannot be agreed upon then the 1st and 3rd maps will be played on the Defender's Choice and the 2nd will be played on the Attacker's choice.

Which is it? Mutually agree on a server, or defenders choice?

...along the same lines, when we chose to play all maps on our own server we once had the opposing team move the match over to their server for the 2nd map over lag issues. Even though their ping was only 15ms off from ours. Can this be done or does the ping have to be 75 or greater?

And what's with the side selection process? Random my ass... we've gotten allies on every map for the last 3 matches we've had - statistically speaking this is likely to happen less than 1% of the time so maybe your random number generator is broken or stuck. Might I suggest that map 1 be random, map 2 be the opposite of map 1 and map 3 be either random or defenders choice.
Gentlemen. Ladder specific rules always override the General Rules. What you are reading about switching servers is general rules...so follow the Ladder rules

My guess is you don't know the rules for the ladder. If you are playing TOW or OBJ you play both sides on the first map. The tiebreaker is map selected by the attacker with the defender choosing the side. Side is not random on the tiebreaker for either of those ladders.

Technically I don't have a ping rule because there are alot of variables that can affect it. However, the defender gets server choice. As a result if they post their info then you can expect to play on their server. If someone comes and asks an admin about ping they will be told that it has to be over 75ms average difference before we will even consider a change of server venue.

Sorry, but your guess would be wrong. I know the rules and I'm speaking of TDM where side selection is supposedly random. We have been given Allies for the last 3 matches in all maps played. Like I suggested for fairness you might want to consider changing the rules so that the first map is random, the second map is opposite so that each team gets allies once and axis once. Third map is up to you... either random or defenders choice - I don't care, but I do have to wonder just how random things are when we haven't played as axis once in a TDM match.
I'll say what TC can't...

It's RANDOM, play the hand ur dealt, and HUSH

Its helpful if you specify which ladder you are talking about since you posted on a thread for TOW, OBJ, and Roundbased TDM.

ya know in vegas how they have those dice that are weighted on one side so you never get that "lucky" roll...kinda seems like that on the SH TDM ladder

I still think "Defenders Choice" is a bad setup.. I mean. I gives the defender an advantage.. Thoughs two words spell advantage to me.. Especially when it comes to servers. I think both teams should be allowed to play on there server. If one team has no server. Then you play on the other teams server..

I would've agreed with you up until we joined the SH ladders. I've had to play on some very poor SH servers with horrible lag spikes. Also it seems that some don't know how to setup a match cfg file with all the proper settings. You would think this to be easy. Apparently it's not.

Yup.. We have had that experience already.

Our server runs 24/7 (unless it crashes) with the TWL config.. That means the settings shown in the rules are set, and all other settings are default(untouched).
WEll TWL always has the advantage to the defender one way or the other. If you choose you may switch servers. Typically I find this time consuming and in many cases a problem because of match mis configuration or the like. But again, you can give the option to people. I had someone offer to let us play the second on my server. OF course I played their because the server was fine and didn't see the point in bothering to change servers. Basically I feel that if you earn a top spot you deserve an advantage to defend it. By the same token someone attacking needs to earn the spot. I feel that I've evened out the rules much more than the AA ladder with OBJ by giving both teams equal time on each side. AGain, the advantage goes to the defender only in the TB. It works and rungs change hands.

True. Are you willing to discuss the possibility of changing the side selection process? If so, let me know and I'll send you an e-mail. Otherwise I won't waste your time further.

You're a little presumptuous to think you know what TC can and can't say.
Hehe, I could have told you that, but there isn't much point
