Fix Raven Shield Refresh Rate?

Historical capture recovered from the Wayback Machine · captured 2003-06-04 · 10 posts
Anyone know where in the sytem files i can go to change the refresh rate value? With the demo it was simple to find in the Ravenshield.ini file and set it. Yet i look now with the full version and it's not there.

Anyone know where to change it? Seems as if the directX override in the ATI control panel doesn't override it?

Thanx!

In the

..\RavenShield\save\profiles

directory, find

user.ini

Find the following setting and set it to true

ShowRefreshRates=True

After this, run RvS and goto the graphics section. You should have a list of useable resolutions and refresh rates.
You may see a 60Hz barrier which may be from XP and not RvS. There are utilities to work around this.
Thanks....first reccomendation worked great!
I did this and by my ressi it says 0, any idea about this considering my comp can go to like 200hzt refresh..?
Or do i have to also set that somewhere?

I don't have any idea. Is you monitor installed in Windows correctly? Can you change your refresh for your Windows Desktop?
ummm, I use a program called Locker, which changes your regestry to make your highest refresh rate for each resolution as high as it will go. In most games (like RvS) this is all you have to do. But in some games (like BF1942) you have to do tweaks to ini's as well.
But yeah, you should also do the ini tweak in RvS as it will reduce the amount of options to the ones u actually want.
Fire...Where can a guy get a copy of that Locker proggy you're talkin' about?

There's also NVRefreshTool and RefreshForce (search yahoo). Be careful, forcing your monitor to a refresh rate it doesn't support will cause eventually damage it. Refresh force works well for me. There's a bug in BF1942 that won't let it run if the refresh rate isn't set to 60. There's a setting you can change to get by this. To undo the effects of RefreshForce, uninstall your video drivers and reinstall them.

Get the program called Radeonator (an ATi tweaker). This has Locker built in. If you have a non-ATi card, Locker will still work, just ignore the other options.
