Why did we drop from 2nd to 13th?

Historical capture recovered from the Wayback Machine · captured 2003-05-13 · 17 posts
We were ranked 2nd then issued a forfeit (no warning) and now we are 13th? How does that happen?

Someone address this please?
When there is a 48 hour violation (Non response), the system forfeits your team and processes a 10 rung deduction for the non-response.

I guess that explains it...

guess we picked a bad time to take a break
As long as you check your e-mail regularly (once every day or 2), you will always be aware of your team's status.

What about your other captains ?
lol!

looks like noone really wants to play RvS. We decided to drop from the ladder at this time. Thanks to all the teams we've met and the friends we've made. This game without an objective, gets a little too campy for my guys. Not alot like the old RS - UO we're used to. We had to recruit a guy just to play tonight. kinda lame.

Maybe if an objective ladder is added I can convince people to play.

Thanks again, enjoyed playing here.

I agree 100% Static. Ya'll are good guys.. I hear you're playing some BF42 on the side, drop by our forums and say hi, would love to pub or scrim ya'll there

As far as objective gameplay, its the only way I like to play.. I'm sure Wizard will get us a ladder and even if there's only the base 20 teams, we'll be hella active 20 teams hehe.

Hmm...I always thought the objective was to kill the other team :p

The main problem with RvS and objective (Pilot / Bomb) maps is that the spwans are not very even. Also, many teams play objective type RvS matches like it is Team survial anyhow. They C4 camp, kill the other team members, etc.

We will be working on objective ladders once I get the 5v5 league up and running.

As far as this is concerned, I feel sorry for the offense that camps and lets time run out.. ty defense wins.

And defense is supposed to protect a point in bomb and pilot hence C4 and camping makes alot of sense. Its a dumb defense that ignores the objectives and goes hunting the other team like its survival.

Teams that ignore the objectives and treat the game like its survival will get hurt badly when they play a good objective team.

All we play in sof2 is objective based gametypes and its a similar sort of game (just add jumping) No one plays team survival there. I have a feeling once everyone sees the light, no one will play it here either..

edit: I agree with the maps though.. however there are quite a few suitable for one gametype or another.. probably enough for a ladder until new maps are availible.

Fatal Force is playing a lot of BF1942 on the side...but only Desert Combat, we're hoping TWL will add a DC ladder
Well spawns can be edited - using the map editor... I think after alot of 3-4 Hour matches teams will consider OBJ too. RvS is a great game, it's a shame that laddering TDM has turned into what it has. At least with objective you can either just eliminate the other team (TDM) or if they are camped out somewhere, go after the objective.

As mentioned by Static, it doesn't matter how people play it - there's going to be a winner and loser every time (unless you can double-kill when 1v1, which I've yet to see). If you choose to ignore your objective, you're going to lose more than you're going to win. Maximum match length can be figured, also, making it a lot easier for people to schedule.

Plus, no more bitching about camping - it's inherent to the gametype. Think about that for a moment - a forum free of whining about camping. Pure nirvana. Okay, I know people will still bitch about it, but it's a nice thought...
on an objective based game play such as bomb, whats to stop a team from just camping the bomb? as much as i like the objective based ladder idea, i feel that the advantages will swing too widely in one direction for a particular team, therefore leading to far more complaints then we already have about camping. it is similar to the play in America's Army objective based ladder, one team starts near the objective and the other starts a mile away, in most instances it is quite unfair to the assaulting team (unless defense are uber noobers) I leave it in the hands of the admins and will anticipate the outcome...

That's the whole point - it's designed so that one team will have to defend to win. It's no longer camping, it's now strategic defense of the objective. Yes, the defending team will have the advantage, but that's why each team plays both sides on every map. To win, you have to overcome your disadvantage better than your opponent - exactly how it should be.
