Rules question

Historical capture recovered from the Wayback Machine · captured 2003-01-18 · 8 posts
The rules are a bit confusing about how the winner of a map is determined, in one place it says 5 rounds will be played, but in another place it says first team to 3 wins. There will probably be a lot of draws, so which is it?

Good question

OK let me explain to the best of my knowledge. Each map is played 5 rounds or until one team wins 3 rounds. The rules are very clear on this, Each map is played until one team wins 3 rounds. In the even that after 5 rounds have passed and neither team has won 3 rounds, another round will be played until one team wins and so on...

5 rounds is just a basis to set the server up for the match. In a perfect world, there will be no draws and the first to win 3 out of 5 rounds will win the map!

One thing that does puzzle me about the rules, is the map selection. WHY is the attacker the one to pick the tiebreaker? This is a first ive seen of this here on the twl or any ladder system. It just doesnt make sense! The defender should be allowed to pick the map there better at to defend their rung!

edit* cause its late and im dumb :P

Actually, the MoH ladders are like that as well. And here is the reason why...side is more important than map.

Uh, it is first to 3 wins. Five rounds is really irrevelant since you have to win 3 and any draws are thrown out. You could play 3 rounds or 98 rounds to get to 3 first.

The round limit should be cranked up on each map to avoid map changes.
How was the experience of match play in this? any feedback?
Quick.

Used to a normal GO match or something which can last an hour or so.

SMAK_Lah was Bad Ass too.
Your not to shabby yourself Animosity. You had quite a few people cursing when you spanked them

Yeah they go pretty fast as that is the nature of SMAK's game play. I aimgine it could have been slowed down alot if we chose a slower, more methodical approach but .... nah Lah likes to kill
