RVS.........whats left....is there a place to go?

I play RVS all the time and love it. Im that dumb ass waiting for RVS4 to come out but this is the problem. I dont think RVS 4 is comong out for a long long time, kind of one of those "In a galaxy far far away." I have been playing for a few years now and am almost as good as Vtecsbrother (lol) and I see the same 30 to 50 people on everyday. So then you think screw it Ill play in a Euro servers, but I cant stand when some 13 yearold punk frog said he pwnd me m8 and I am pinging 150 to 180.

I feel your pain....I have been let down by bf2/vietnam/ and the disappointment of gr2 not being relased for pc....i can only hope rvs4 doesn't let us all down with a delay or non-release for pc.

looks incredible. almost as good as UT2k7 looks, so at the very least it'll be a good tide-me-over until it drops.

Put the healer alt on follow with a heal macro ,target yourself and farm farm farm XP.

Well after this weekend I will say the next big game will be Quake4 , we played the ID devs in a 2v2 at quakecon and finished 4th overall. For those that played Q3 and team areana you wont be disappointed, Its as fast or faster than Q3 but its on the doom3 engine. They didnt take away from anything that Q3 was about, the single player will resume right where Q2 ledt off.

We will be competing at CAL when opened. I imagine TWL will have some ladders as well, The ID devs says a full demo should be ready by oct, they are just finalizing PB before released.

If you're looking for a great new tactical shooter, keep dreaming. I'd really hate to say it, but it seems like RVS was the last great tact. shooter for the PC. UBI seems unusually quiet about any PC game that's not Splinter Cell or Prince of Persia.



Q4 does look cool. So did DOOM 3, and we all know how much of a "help I'm trapped in a giant hallway with stupid AI" game that was.

half the rvs community said that. Weren't you around when the demo came out and all the rvs clans were trying it out and going ooh and ahh and hmm. Two weeks later there were like two clans still playing it, fwf andhmm, maybe TAW? I forget, but it was very hyped, on par with BF2. BF2 has a huge fan base from BF42, but its so arcadey, it can never replace rvs.

I can't wait until the coders really get going on that game. The more players, the more potential cheaters, as proven by the counter strike formula.

it may've been hyped on par w/bf2 here, but not in the full gaming community. not even remotely close. you're talking a couple hundred people in a sea of hundreds of thousands who couldn't give two poops about rvs, let alone swat4.

either way the game was a boring pos.

It always amuses me how much more money companies make on games that are dumbed down to the "halo"istic level on consoles than on the precise and difficult skill needed in (some) PC games. The world has grown lazy.

R6 sold way more on the consoles then the PCs, and was advertised like crazy. I didn't even know another rainbow six had come out for the pc until 3 months after its release. I saw it in the stores and was like, no way, where the hell did this come from??

i started play online mp with CS then went to operation flashpoint then to RVs an now back to ofp. i am currently waiting for armed assault its sort of like ofp 1.5 an then later in the year ofp2 but i might pick up GR3 or 4 what ever its going to be called. an i am also going to get dod soruce when it comes out later in the year

But Q4 will hit around mid october. For now its Bf2, then I'm going back to where I belong. Watching the voting at CPL on if they will pick up Q4, I hope so. I would think that TWL will be making a new Q4 channel pretty soon.

was it true to basic q3a style or did it have all the extra jumpy crap in the "pro" mods?

a few of us will be playing it as well...hopefully twl doesn't drop the q4 ball.

I found this at gamespy, we are standing in the background waiting to play. If you look at the right side where the ID dev is you will see image of the game.

All I can really say about the gmae. The MP does not loose any speed or gameplay that Q3 had its just as fast or faster. All the weapons are their and they have the same feel, the lightning gun is amazing to use, That was mainly what fatal1ty used in his demo's. We played on a redone Q3 tourny map, same scale everything just looked awsome. Play better I thought than the orignal did.

Being an old quake head, MIR started in quake. A flashback with a new engine. Maybe not the best ladder game, CPL is trying to push it, It will be the next big tournament game thats for sure.

BF2 isnt an RVS "replacement" in terms of style, although BF2 infantry is more realistic than it was before in the BF games IMO.

But I, and many others, LOVE playing it for all the different things you can do in one night of playing. Getting medals and awards for having good rounds is kinda cool too. Tanks, TV missiles, blackhawks, or just straight assaulting/sniper... its all fun.

I really look forward to the next RVS. Maybe GR3 will be it, but I really want an RVS. For now though, and for this summer/fall, BF2 is providing hours of entertainment and fun with clanmates. Because of respawning, not viewing your teammates (I honestly have little idea of how good some of my teammates actually are cuz I dont watch through them lol), it doesnt have the same "personal" feel that RVS does. So I dont see it holding my interest for the amount of time a RVS fps did.

That said tho, its a ton more fun to play and explore etc than stretching a hack-filled RVS out any longer than I did. Clanmates werent seen often during the final run of RVS. We usually have full vent of players again ENJOYING gaming again.

So yeah it is a great FUN replacement for the dead RVS and the endless cycle of 7 rounds on each map, no tricks havent been seen before, etc. But its not a STYLE replacement for RVS, although its not like a Quake or UT2004 style.

Call of Duty 2/Quake 4.

A lot of people complain, "Oh I dont like the old ww2 shooters and stuff", well RvS may have been the last modern weapon tactical shooter, but its no where near the last. Source, although has a lot of cheaters is extremely fun... plus Call of Duty is way more fun/strategic than RvS ever was, after scrimming stratting and matching CoD i dont see how Raven Shield ever was strategic... you go there you go there isnt means for declaring it strategic

CoD and counter strike are both 10x the strategy games RvS is, but neither are as fun.

Quake4 is all out blitz skill; the best gamers in the world play the Quake/UT type games, but there's just something about sneaking around a corner and capping a guy in his knoggin w/o him knowing wtf even happened like in a tactical fps.
