Match decorum

From TWL rules:

11. In-game behavior

All players must follow these basic behavior guidelines while in-game. ONLY team captains are allowed to speak in mm1 (global chat), all other team players must keep their chat to mm2 (team only). Failure to do so may result in a forfeit of that map, repeated offenses will incur a stiffer penalty to be determined by the ladder admin. Please keep pre-match and in-game communications repectful, and match related. Match time is a time for actions, not words.

---------------------

It is common in games for this rule to be broken. Most of the time it's just harmless fun chat. But when mm1 chat becomes offensive and insulting, I feel strict penalties should be enforced.

One of the main reasons I enjoy league play is that it is generally of a higher quality not only in skill levels but also in participant behavior. League matches are for the most part free of the puerile conduct found in pub servers such as Poop and Midwest Mayhem.

But once in a while, the llamas that ruin pub games end up in clans and in clan matches. Some of these folks do not adhere to any sort of standard of conduct. Recently I've seen examples of in game mm1 (chat) that I would consider well beyond acceptable. Chat that includes insults, profanity, taunting and other such remarks should be cause for severe punishment. At the very least, players found using inappropriate mm1 in game should be expelled from the league. Personaly, I'd like to see the entire clan held accountable for this sort of mis-behavior.

Being around this childish behavior makes me feel ill. It makes me want to give up the game sometimes. Without an arena in which I am assured responsible behavior by all participants, I just might give up the game. If we can't expect a good, clean game in leagues like TWL, then where we expected to find them?

My 2 cents,

Have you had problems with teams/players so far? I know theres a few out there. I'm personally pretty lienient about this, however I will not handle a dispute lightly.

Just happened to find a wonderful example of the type of behavior I was referring to:

Yes, DNA was booted from the League. I'm assuming they'll be booted from the ladder as well. I, as well as many others, have absolutely no interest in being involved with these sorts of "people".

I'm sure they have a lot of talented players, but online gaming isn't only about winning. It's also about enjoying the online company of good people. I'd like to see it remain that way.
