so what is this new system and when will it be implemented?

They didnt tell you?

Ill be making the matchups and choosing who to GTV,

/me gets out check book

time to buy some matches :o
Hello Audioaxes.

Here is how I plan on scheduling the CTF League matches this season. Your input is welcome.

The first week’s matches were paired up by teams that I felt would give each other good competition; excluding the matches created last as they were from teams just joining the league. From now on, teams will be paired up like so. Teams that won will be paired with teams that won. Teams that lost with teams that lost. From those teams, teams will be paired up by which teams won or lost in fewer or more maps. From those teams, teams will be paired up with teams that had a larger cap differential over their opponent in the previous week.

So generally speaking, the teams that won in 2 maps and had the most cap differential from the previous week will get paired together for the next week assuming they haven’t played each other already. The teams that lost in 2 maps and had the most cap differential will get paired together. The teams that won/lost in 3 maps with close to the same cap differential will play each other. This keeps matches competitive until each team has played each other.

Obviously, some teams will have to play each other twice at the end of the season. I will most likely schedule the teams fighting for the last playoff spots against each other and the teams that already locked their playoff spot against the teams that are out of the contest. The other option would be to have cross divisional matches at the end but I don’t want to do that because it goes against the purpose of divisions.

Keep in mind this is not an exact science. I wouldn’t want it that way either. There should be some surprise in which opponent you are going to play next week.

this is turning into corrupted swiss scheduling! Lets quit while we are at it
you need to mix up the divisions some. Everyone knows its VeX or Terminal in final from that otherside. They will rape the rest of the division.
ignore division talk

Retaks, one question. Another thread indicates the score reporting is map wins and not map scores. How do we know what the cap differential is?

Good point. If we stick with the map wins then thats what I'll go off of.

Ripoff!
Ok a) Why not get rid of divisions and do a real version of swiss instead of "you" choosing matches.
b) Why put 3 clans in 1 division who probaly could take the league? i.e. VeX. iCu, T while the other division it's NN. I'm not counting out clans like SaB, Veneration, but from last seasons playoff results the three teams mentioned could
win. Instead you have the Seals division which pretty much is 1/3rd the trouble to win than the Rangers division.
A) Divisions spice things up so its not only the same two teams competing against each other every year. It gives other teams a chance. Swiss sheduling with divisions isnt a good idea and I've always liked the suprise in finding who I played next week instead of computing some formula to find out.

B) Thats your opinion of "what clan is best." Annihilator did his best dividing up the teams and some joined the league late.

ya i think some kind of systematic schedule is gonna be needed

what happens once we play every team in our division? those next few matches are going to be crucial in deciding what final teams will make the playoffs
any ideas/suggestions?

10 teams in the division, 10 weeks of play...why not have every team play every other team in their division twice?
you can then mix it up with a REAL random setup....let ND80 or some head guy that doesnt play Urt be the one to use some kind of software that will randomly pick the matchups every week under the parameter that you must play every clan twice

this way every clan in each division has the same strength of schedule and has equal chance to earn their berth into the playoffs without slipping in by playing an unfair amount of weaker teams
the rules already lets 6 teams per division join the playoffs... if you cant make it there out of only 10 clans without some kind of fluff in giving "weaker" clans even more of a handicap, you just dont deserve to go the playoffs.

---
another suggestion:
In the cirumstance that one division has MORE teams than the other:
if a clan drops out the season, the complimenting team in the other division will switch sides [ie...6th rank in seal division drops, the 6th rank clan in ranger division joins seal division]

Time will tell but the divisions are lopsided.

Yeah, 10 teams are in the seals division so each will play an opponent twice. The rangers division only has 9 teams currently so that wont be equal. I could use a piece of software that randomly selects teams to play if thats how you would like it to be done. ND80 wont because scheduling is not his job. What do the rest of you think about that?

ya that sounds good
um.... ok so how were these schedules for this week were created?
im trying to follow along with the proposed system and its getting me no where.

http://www.retaks.com/Scheduing.doc

that may or may not help give you an idea. Like i said, i'm welcome to the random scheduling idea but i'de like to get some more feedback about that.

ok i get it now... didnt know you were doing it by each individual previous week

however wouldnt such a system start to break down as we start to play most of the clans in the division?
