It only further hurts the legit players who get lagged out by PB while they are getting hacked by cheating bastards

Just use Demos to ban people if they are repeat offenders they will get caught via demo

Make a league rule , if a demo is requested and you dont have it then you are out of the league permanantly

Or better yet after every match, every player posts his demo

I'm home sick and probably not thinking 100% clear but I'm kinda sick about all the bitching about PB this and that

I played one match in a EMS sponsored 2v2 with no pb and it was awesome, pb was off on purpose and the game ran so smoothe

Yea...PB makes horrible lag. Ontop of 100 ping, I have to deal with a few minutes of horrible PB lag. I dunno if pb still scans or it is the updates that cause lag.

Keep PB. The only problem with PB is they are a bunch of lazy asses. The only hacks that are actualy out there is old modified hacks. Usualy nothing new at all that will concern anyone. PB does keep a wide variety of people from cheating. I see atleast 3-4 people get kicked for gamehook, ect.


Players that tend to cheat usualy rename all the old ogc files to another name. PB only searches for names like ogc_1 or some shit. People can easily rename the old ogc files to say urt_cfg or some bizarre shit. There are multiple different names that I myself have added to my servers PB files to keep hackers out. It really is nothing new, but just named files.

How bout we dump PB and make it mandatory that EVERY player must upload their demo after EVERY match? Then the admins and team captains can view them to see if there is any cheating.

If you trust the other clan, I don't see why disableing pb is a problem. Make it an option if both teams agree. I believe in TWL season #1, AI and [e] both agreed to disable it for their championship match. So it's been done before.

As far as Demos, require them for all past pb violators.

There are a lot of good points here in this thred. One specific point though, and I am not trying to rekindle a old fire here by saying this. But was'nt there two players last TS season caught hacking that PB did'nt pick up on? Or was that just lame ass rumors?
I think PB works, but just for the "basic" hacks. If you get some dumb@@s that has to hack to play and knows what he is doing(with hacking), I think he will slip past PB scans.
I like the demo idea, but I also would like to see PB stay. As far as the MBL, ehh dont think I have played on any servers with it yet. So no opinion on that. The concept sounds great, I just wanna see if there is any extra "lag"

The MBL has settings for what times you want to update. now, common sense would specify that you not set this update time during matches and whatnot. Also, it can be done daily, weekly, monthly....etc.

I am not using on the server we play on, rather I am installing it on a seperate machine of mine so that I dont get the lag associate with teh updates.

now If I can only get some help on finding the pbbans.dat file the program says I dont hvae...sigh...I'd be golden!

CRANE, I do believe that EmS has it installed on thier server. I think it was Samuria that said he had been running it for a few months now. I play on thier server from time to time and I dont noitice anything as far as lag. I may just be lucky not to get on during updates?

Yes the EmS server has been running Auto-MBL for some time now (probably 9 months or so). I run the pc client from time to time, I don't leave it running, but I do it often enough to keep it updated. The actual update process is akin to uploading a few small map to the server so there is really no lag associated with it.

The only way we're gonna stop 100% of the hacks is to go into each and every players home, set up video survaliance systems, and record their playing habbits. If someone is caught using a hack, they will be imprisoned for 2 years and then probation for 5 years after in wich they are not allowed to touch a computer...
A bit extreem? Well, it's really the only way to catch em. Other than that, we go with what we have, and play on. Hackers get bored.. Wouldn't you if you pretty much sat and watched the computer play for you? So, we play, we have fun. They play and get bored. They leave, we stay, all is well.

Sorry, I don't trust anyone let alone another clan. PB snagged a guy cheating on my small server and it turned out to be a clan guy. Went to their site and posted part of the PB log and you should have seen the BS fly. PB ain't much but better than nothing.

blue dont forget dude you cheated as well, or dont you remember? I see that as being possibly a good and a bad idea. considering the fact that pb has not updated in god knows how long, some new faces have poped up every now and then and have used new or old modified hacks in recent servers. I like the idea about uploading the demos after a match so that the admins could take a look at them. taking pb off is kinda asking for some problems but yet I support the idea of taking pb off because right now it seems pointless. we are all humans here right? im sure we can tell a cheatin noob from a skilled player. even when we play witht hem almost every day.

i feel that giving my demo every time i play would be like a coach giving his playbook over to the other team, i dont see that as fair, if an admin wants my demo, by all means i will send it, but posting after every match i think is retarded. a good person with a wall hack for example will not be staring at people through walls, if posting demos after every match is the answer, i will do it, but i think it takes away from the game play and u will have my strats, which i have worked hard on, my 2 cents
