A positive thought for LaserSights and other tankers who are bored

So, I'm going to try to keep this thread positive with ideas for people who don't have any other games to play and also think BC2 is about as awful as games come these days..

Back when BF1942 was in its prime, a server was run called "EA 10 - Aberdeen". This server at first only ran Aberdeen... all day every day, 24 hours a day. Then the creators of the server (USF with due respect) began making changes. They started rotating tank maps (Aberdeen, Tobruk.. god I forget what else) and then afterward even made modifications. They added more tanks, and the server was extremely popular. Day & night it would be full of tankers from all over - in the night time you could log in and battle some of the best European tankers and during the day you could get a taste of the American style of play. Each was different, and the server was a blast.

Now that BF2 is on it's competitive death bed, EA has finally "unlocked" all the maps for the masses and actually have some decent tank maps.

So my question is this - why hasn't anyone hosted a server that rotates tank maps like Roadrage & Highway Tampa? I can't even remember what other maps there are, but surely someone could make slight modifications to maps like Mashtuur and maybe put a few more armor down?

Overall, I still prefer BF1942's tanking to any other experience in gaming I've had (other than source ironically), however with the last patch EA released I can actually pub some of the maps and not want to slit my wrists with boredom. Considering that the public servers in this game are still alive, I don't see why this hasn't already been done before.

Just food for thought, rather than useless trolling.

so it is possible to add more takes to ranked servers in attempts to create some excitement? I must be miss understanding you because this doesnt sound like something ea would do. I would definitely host a server with a tank only rotation to keep the drive alive.

All the good tanking maps are "Armored Fury" and "Euro Force" maps, euro force has a few good tanking maps like Taraba Quarry and Operaton Smoke Screen. All these maps been out for years and was only $9.00 per booster pack. Highway Tampa is the newest of the armor maps.

The main servers hosting all these maps I can remember is =SF= Highway Tampa Only (unitl they ruined it by switching it to all maps, after that they lost everybody interested in Highway Tampa). =SF= Highway Tampa was a full or good size population 24/7 and was where I can be found. [UTAC], Legion of War, so many I can't remember were hosting armored fury and euro maps 24/7 and where always full or good size population.

Now days =G4L= host a 24/7 Operation Harvest Only server usually full or populated. =BfG= host a 24/7 Highway Tampa Only server but is European and mostly populated in the morning in America. HBD host a 24/7 Operation Roadrage server and is usually full or good size population.

If you want a server to earn all your medals and badges to reach 4 star general now days, you will need your own server and raise the ticket count. With less servers now days I think all the pros are mostly populating servers and it's hard to earn badges and medals unless you raise the ticket count. Because games go by too fast to get enough kills.

If you think the "pros" are populating anything in bf2 anymore you need to take another look around.

I take that back, pros and aimbot users.

I meant not really anyone that was any good at this game play it anymore. Maybe a few once in awhile but thats it. The majority of people that play this game seem like they are mentally retarded compared to how it used to be.

Haven't played BF2 in month's because like you say, most of the players seem mentally retarded. Still loaded on my puter waiting for the 2nd coming.

Some people are bringing back BF1942 and TWL is hosting a BF1942 tournament. I hope BF2 comes back.

never understood why Operation Road Rage or Hway Tampa was never in Armor Competition. Offical maps right?

Probably for the same reasons Special Forces maps was not on the competition map list. I'm not sure but I take it not everybody had all their booster packs and expansion packs. When I first started playing BF2 around October 2007 there was more BF2 regular maps on public servers than Special Forces, Armored Fury and Euro Force maps.

After a while I made a map request thread and finally more maps were added to the list but still no Special Forces maps. Warlord and Ghost Town are fun city maps.

Operation Roadrage is not on the list because it has tanks and AA tanks only.
