Playoff questions

I was curious about this before. Since TWL is running 4 Playoff maps, I assume that means there will be 16 teams in the playoffs. Out of 34 teams, I think this is logical.

I was wondering if we were going to go with an NHL style system where the top 8 teams from each conference are picked (and giving the top team from each division 1&2 seeding regardless of their record) or if some other system will be used.

Being a hockey fan/player, this is the system I know and understand.
well once conference has 20 teams and the other 14

i dont think that be fair
I am working on the playoff brackets right now. I will get back with more details after I have a chance to look over the seedings.

The number of teams per division isnt relavant. 2 divisions have had more teams drop than the other 2, thats all.

ok thats good, i saw brackets and it lists by conference. I thought u said it didnt
Huh? And how would I do that?
well one conference has 14 teams, easier to make playoffs there

CAL did good setup by teams that left would be replaced by teams that came in the same conference

I think currently there are 23 teams in each conference
Ok, good for CAL. I have replaced teams as I could and moved teams around when appropriate. If you would have taken the time to actually look at the point layout by the current playoff process, you would notice that each conference is represented appropriately.

If a team with let say 8 pts was in the playoffs in one division and another with 12pts was out, I would think that to be unfair. That is not happening here.

ah ok, i understand now. No need to get a tad angry. Didn't understand from your last post
good work red

Making the best out of a tough situation. Teams should never be dropping from the league :p
I think the only problem will be in National Conference if a team with 14 points doesn't make the playoffs and the team with 12 points does.

Not angry, just wanting to clarify.

Thanks Wolven! I am watching that however since this season was firmly divided along conference lines for scheduled matches, the pt totals being that close are thorn in the process but not a showstopper.

If I go on a strict pt only system what is the point in playing by conference and division? IMO, it sorta lessens the need to "win" your division.

well i will say this. it's not easy replacing teams that move in and out of the league. the admins did a decent job in this respect, though i think some earlier moves out the conference with 20 teams into the one with 14 would have been better, but hindsight is 20/20. It just seemed that anytime clans dropped the American Conference received new bodies, and the Nat'l Conf was forgotten about.

Not forgotten, just much less stable. As of week 5 there was 18 teams in the National. We have just had that many drop from 1 conference. You guys in the American have hung in and slugged it out.

Regardless of the season, the playoffs seem to be chock full of good matchups.
ok icred, i understand now, thx and keep the good work up
just a small clarification to the rules. which will be updated:

We will take top 3 per division, top 2 conference seeds left over = 8 per conference

Division winners will be seeded first then the others by conferences.

The 2 conference seeds helps to prevent a team with 12 pts making playoffs and a team with 15 in another div not.
