well i know some folks in MOH use a program called FRAPS to record games, but not sure if it would work for BF...I really dont see a reason it wouldnt...The only thing is, Fraps is a system hog in itself, along with BF 42 being a hog it might end up lagging the shit outta you while you play...I personally have a SVIDEO cable from my vid card to my VCR and record stuff like that...Then i use REAL PLAYER PRODUCER to edit the film and what not...Would be nice if more games were like tribes, and SOF2, and UT2K3 where they have an ingame video capture devices...Im not really sure what the fraps website is, but im sure if you typed it in google search it would come right up...Hope that helps a tad...Frag On
when we tried recording from the vcr, 30 seconds took up 6 gigs of space I think. We tried to find a way to reduce fps but then we just ditched the idea of having an intro.
Best way to do it is buy a DVCam. Go out of your video card via S-video to the DVCam. Record whatever footage you want and dump it back into the computer via firewire.
I use a program called IMovie which I think is one of the best movie editing software's out there.
Fraps works just fine for most short clips. it reconrds in a very raw format so the file size is quite large, though not as large as mentioned above.
I have a 51 second movie saved that is 680 megs. The reconding size is 800 x 600. I know that pretty big but after editing and such, the file size can be reduced. Converting directally to a .swf file results in the file compressing to a mear 21 megs. This is even before converting to mpeg or avi compression with reduction of resolution!
ya, Fraps works fine, and its not worth the hassle of buying something to do it when you can just download fraps...i think it only works on 800x600 but thats not bad.
