How to fix arty?

There you go, we're fixing arty but there is still some debate as to how, it seems. So if you want to input, go there, vote and post if you must.

I WILL NOT RETURN TO THIS THREAD. I will not rebutt any arguments about this subject here, I will not count anyones opinion here. It's free and fast, sign up, vote and actually help make a difference.

admins can lock, sticky or whatever this thread so people have the knowledge.

Same can be said about planes. IN the right hands, those two vehicles can/do/and will dominate Battleaxe. That is what this whole debate is about. Arty people see pilots as a threat, thus we find ways to eliminate that threat. Regardless of your view on our tactics, thats why we do it.

Conversely, Pilots view the Arty in the same light. However, I will agree, that the arty is much more difficult to eliminate than the planes are once they go down (not impossible, but difficult). But then again, that is what this whole debate is about, so lets not start chewing on that again....

Realize, its all perspective. IF you are on one side of the fence, you are going to argue the valid points to support your side. As well, the other side is going to argue thier valid points. In the end, neither side is right nor wrong. However, I think a compromise has been struck and I think we need see this through. Those of you who still insist on bitching and whining and drudging up stupid arguements that hvae been hashed out for the past 6 months are not helping the issue, but furthing the debate and essentially causing a rift between our community.

Trust me, I have been in this fight long before half of you even knew about pixle aiming, and I have come to the conclusion that arguing about it is not going to solve the issue only further this stupid debate. Shut up and lets move on is all I have to say....

Leave well enough alone. Stop hating over the arty. Its been debated since season 1 of CAL.

Reminds me of the debates about the forward pass and the 3 point line in f-ball and b-ball. Just as football teams had to learn how to utilize (and counter) the forward pass and b-ball players had to learn how to how to make use of (and counter) the 3 point shop so have BF1942 teams had to learn how to take advantage of arty and defend against it. Personally I'm not a huge fan of arty as more often then not its aimed at me as a pilot, but it serves its role in the game. Gentlemen's agreements about no pixelation may work under certain circumstances but would be nearly impossible to enforce across a league in a large team enviornment, and removing or reducing the impact of a well understood specality for the benefit of those who may not be willing to take the effort to understand that specality isn't much of an accomodation (one could make an interesting argument about the further nerfification of the planes).


As for Baxe, I'd personally prefer to see a light version. 1 Plane for both sides, no arty, no heavy tank and 1-2 jeeps in both bases. That map is just plain silly with all those vehicles in such a small space and a Baxe "light" would cut down on the base camp. I'd prefer to see it be who can show the most agility in their attacks and defense, not he or she who can camp the best. However in my case I have no interest in getting involved in the bfpro baxe train wreck so I'll just abstain like a noob


On a side note I remember some DC discussion that our European friends play under certain gentlemen's agreements that involve no main base camping, runway strafing etc in matches. As a pilot I'm all for this, 155%

LOL dc el al is terrible for that. no matter what server you go into, someone has the scud, and the guided missles planted right on the runway. id rather deal with a wespe than a scud missle anyday.

I think Battle ax sucks ass - so just remove the map. Problem solved.

i like kate's idea of making it a "light version" but i'ld rather do it the other way and the map bigger and keep the number of vehicles.
