Okay we just set up a 24 man server on a T3 line and were wondering what the commands are for changing stuff..Another website or just some general knowledge on it would be much appreciated...Like how to change maps, kick people, yadda yadda yadda... Just looking for some console type stuff since this game doesnt support Rcon yet...Or at least that i know of...hehe...So thanks for the help if it can be given..
ACCESSING THE CONSOLE
To access the console in Battlefield 1942, you need to use the " ~ " tidle key. It is located just above your "Tab Key", this will drop down your console in game where you can enter the specific commands listed below.
SERVER COMMANDS
Game.listplayers
Every player has an ID number, which is used for kicking/voting off the player. This command lists those numbers.
Game.enablefreecamera *
This enables free look mode on clients who are waiting to spawn. For *, 1 turns free look on, 0 turns it off. Note that this command can only be run from the server, or by a user that has remote server access.
Game.killplayer *
* is equal to the player id number. Note that this command can only be run from the server, or by a user that has remote server access.
Admin.kickplayer *
* is equal to the player id number. Note that this command can only be run from the server, or by a user that has remote server access.
Admin.banplayer *
* is equal to the player id number. Note that this command can only be run from the server, or by a user that has remote server access.
Admin.removeaddressfrombanlist *
* is equal to the IP of a banned player. Note that this command can only be run from the server, or by a user that has remote server access.
Admin.addaddresstobanlist *
* is equal to the IP address to the client that is to be banned. Note that this command can only be run from the server, or by a user that has remote server access.
Admin.clearbanlist
This allows all users that were previously banned to once again connect to the server. Note that this command can only be run from the server, or by a user that has remote server access.
Admin.externalviews *
This command enables/disables external camera views on clients connected to the server. For *, 1 turns external views on, 0 turns it off. Note that this also disables the nose cam. Also, note that this command can only be run from the server, or by a user that has remote server access.
Admin.listbannedaddresses
Lists the IP addresses that are banned from connecting to the server. Note that this command can only be run from the server, or by a user that has remote server access.
Admin.allownosecam *
This command enables/disables the ability for clients to turn off the airplane HUD. (Allows easier flying.) For *, 1 turns nose cam on, 0 turns it off. Also note that if external views are turned off, nose cam cannot be used. Note that this command can only be run from the server, or by a user that has remote server access.
Admin.vehicleffratio *
This command enables/disables the freindly fire vehicle damage. For *, 1 is FF on, 0 = FF off.
Admin.solderffratio *
This command enables/disables the freindly fire soldier/teammates. For *, 1 is FF on, 0 = FF off.
Admin.vehicleffratioOnSplash *
This command enables/disables the freindly fire vehicle weapons splash (tank rounds, AA guns). For *, 1 is on, 0 = off.
Admin.soldierffratioOnSplash 0>
This command enables/disables the freindly fire soldier weapons splash (bazookas, grenades). For *, 1 is on, 0 = off.
VOTING COMMANDS
Game.votekickplayer *
This command will initiate/cast a vote to kick a player. Players on both teams can participate in this vote. * is equal to the player id number.
Game.votekickteamplayer *
This command will initiate/cast a vote to kick a player. Voting is restricted to the team of the player who initiated the vote. * is equal to the player id number.
Admin.votingtime *
This command sets the amount of time clients have to cast a vote after it has been initiated. * is equal to the number of seconds clients will have to vote. Note that this command can only be run from the server, or by a user that has remote server access.
REMOTE CONSOLE ACCESS
Admin.enableremoteadmin password
The SERVER needs to have this command executed every map. The password can include numbers OR letters, but not a combination of the two. NOTE: DO NOT INCLUDE ANY SPACES IN YOUR PASSWORD.
The CLIENT that is to have remote admin access is to execute this command. The password must be the same as the one set on the server.
Admin.execremotecommand "command"
To execute a command from a client, one would type the admin.execremotecommand, followed by the desired admin command in quotation marks. For example, to kick someone with the player id of 7 from a client machine, one would type the following (after going through the first two steps of this section.)
Admin.execremotecommand "admin.kickplayer 7"
OTHER HELPFUL COMMANDS
Console.showfps *
This toggles the FPS display on and off. For *, 1 turns FPS on and 0 turns it off.
Console.showstats *
This toggles the debug stats display on and off. For *, 1 turns the debug stats display on and 0 turns it off.
Game.disconnect
This disconnects the player from the current game.
Game.changeplayername *
This allows a user to quickly change his name. * is equal to the player name.
Game.useHUD *
This will remove all your HUD except for your gun. * 0=off 1=on
Quit
This disconnects the player from the current game to desktop

if possible can you accumulate what you have and email me? I can get a commands list file together and host it up here for all to download if they should want it.

This will fix any ASEhost.dll errors you may be getting with your dedicated servers.
Put the Admin.EnableRemotConsole command in the GeneralOptions.con file, Default.con and the ServerSettings.con file.
Make ServerSettings.con Read-only and Hidden.
Now make copies of ASEHost.dll and GameSpyHost.dll in case you screw up!
Next go to the MultiplayerServers folder and rename the ASEHost.dll file to GameSpyHost.dll and then rename GameSpyHost.dll to ASEHost.dll. (Figure it out!)
Shut down BF1942 Server and then bring it up.
Remote Console works every time now and no !@$!$ Errors!!
I found our Server thru BF1942 and thru GameSpy, but I don't have ASE so I can't tell if that works or not. Maps loaded when playing this time with no problem. I guess the DLL error was due to the way they loaded..
For people with ASE, can you see our Server?

Yet more ADMIN info. This is a cool one. If you tab a partial command it will complete it, then tab again for a listing of it's sub commands...such as. game. (tab) will show all the game options and game.votekickp (tab) will finish out player... or admin.kickp(TAB) it will type the rest of the command for you admin.kickplayer.
I also have found a ton more commands. I just do not know what the hell they do. If you go into console then hit TAB a few times you will get a menu of sorts. I suggest you disable the in gmae messages so that you can see better if using the client.
Here is a GREAT descritption of in game commands and console commands. The guy that put this together did a TON of work. This is a must read.

It can be done. I will post it here this afternoon. However, it is a cluster. rcon does not work very well, where as in game remote admin works better. Rcon has some major issues with XP and win2K. It will work just fine with a win 98 box.
There is a work around on XP and win2K boxes. I have not used as of yet. I just remote back into my server and re-enable the admin password for remote admin after every map change. It is a pain, but with all the smacktards it is a must.

I worked on this for a long time last night and this mornign and I have found out something VERY cool for all you server ADMINS! I simply could not belive that there was not some sort of a way to have the remoteadmin password ( NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH REMOTE CONSOLE) enabled after each map cycle.
What I was doing before was have to use PcAnywhere to remote into my server after each map cycle and enter the following command: admin.enableremoteadmin password
This was a pain. So I started digging through the binary files with HexPro and found several refernces to ServerAutoExec.con. Well, Tribes had one of these for boot up as well as some other games I've served up. So I created a file called ServerAutoExec.con in my Settings directory and added the command admin.enableremoteadmin password and now every time my maps cycle the remote admin feature stays!!!! This is a huge time saver! The interface still sucks but this will help you out greatly. Eveidently this was allways inteded to be used but DICE and EA neglected to share it with us! You can also set any other ADMIN. command in that file if you want to. It is going to help alot.
THIS IS FROM USO at BFCENTRAL. I have not tested this myself. It seems flakey still. Make sure you read all of this post before trying.
------------------------------------------------------------
Put the Admin.EnableRemotConsole command in the GeneralOptions.con file, Default.con and the ServerSettings.con file.
**Note: I should have said Remote Console works most of the time. Damn thing is still buggy, If you keep RemoteConsole up between map changes it might not let you back in, until you shut the Server Down and then restart it again.
Just do what you have to do with it and then shut it down..
I.E.
After typing in Admin.runnextlevel to change maps, or Game.listplayers to kick the TK'ers, I exit RemoteConsole and then restart it when needed.. This seems to work well, so far!!
-----------------------------------------------------------
Try as I might, I cannot get admin.execremotecommand to work. I never have. This is what I've done (forgoing the settings.con and other stuff)
1. Start the server
2. On server console type
admin.enableremoteadmin abc
3. Start the game (client ... different PC)
4. In the game console type
admin.enableremoteadmin abc
5. Try to do ANY kind of remote admin command:
admin.execremotecommand "admin.kickplayer 0"
admin.execremotecommand "blah boogy boo"
admin.execremotecommand "lksdklsjlskdsfkj"
all three of the above remote commands returns "1" when I hit enter and none of them seem to do diddly. What am I missing? Can someone help?
Zep I know the feeling as I havent been able to get it to work either until this morning. I read somethwer long passwords wont work and my password was 7 letters long so I shortened it to 3(temporarily). I also added the admin.enableremoteadmin password line to the default, settings and general options files and made the serverautoexec.con file with the same command in it. I was just able to kick myself from my server so something worked.
Another thing just as a general FYI its very easy to install the remote desktop connection to any OS since win98 just by installing it from an XP cd, this works great for getting into the server box if you can get that kind of access.
A question plz, can you enable and disable the server "game" functions like "game.killplayer 3", "game.serverpassword "XX"", etc?
Killet, thanks. No go though. I am using a 3 character password and have added the command to all those files and entered it by hand with no results.
I use a program called VNC to control the servers (see http://www.tightvnc.com). Very cool software (aka PCAnywhere) and works on Macs, Unix, Windows and others. Anyhow I can control the server that way but some of the people who will be controlling the game won't have that kind of access.
Does anyone have any other suggestions? Killet, if you could back track yours until you make it not work that might help me figure out what I doing wrong?
I'll try to do that tonight and get back to you, going to be out of town for the weekend tho so it may be sunday til I know something. sorry
how are you starting the dedicated server? I did notice that if I started it from the icon in the server dir it seemed to reset the settings? I had to go thru the windows based startup deal and add maps etc etc. Now I have an icon on my desktop, when I use that the server just starts and runs, no setup required. I'll check the command line and see if theres anything in there that may help, I didnt set it up my hosting company did. GL
I hate to ask you a stupid question Zeph but here it goes. You got to the actual server hit the ~ key then type admin.enableremoteadmin pass
You then go to your gaming machine log onto the server get in the game. Once in the gaem you hit ~ key again to get the console up. then type in admin.enableremoteadmin pass.
then you have to type in. admin.execremotecommand "admin.kickplayer x" where x is the ID number. I did not see where you were hitting the ~ key when in game.
Also something very important. When you first fire your server up do not enable the remoteadmin command right at first. Give the server enough time to load the first map all the way up. About 30 seconds or so. Then enter the admin.enableremoteadmin command.
This has never failed anyone that I know of except people that use numbers and letters in the password at the same time, or people that have long passwords. My password is 6 characters all alpha and it has never failed me.
Thanks guys I got it!! I swear I tried with just a 3 letter password in all my testing but just for fun I tried again...now it's working. I had a 5 letter password in there before.
Sheesh. A little more documentation would have been nice ;-)
Now that I've figured out remoteadmin I've been working on Remoteconsole and have it working now.
Get a program called Buzof and set it up to check for the OK button every 10 seconds. The reason for this is that the server will throw up an ASEHost.dll error everytime a map cycles after you have enabled rconsole. All you have to do is click the OK button and it will continue on. With this program it automatically clicks the OK button for you. It takes up no overhead and has been running great on my server. So now I have both rconsole and radmin working without issue.
ok yeah thats what I meant, restart the game, not reboot the server. They really need to make adminning this game MUCH easier if they want it to have any kind of life...
I agree. I am working with a guy that is trying to develope a remote console program that will take the place of the one they have currently. We have it working localy on a non dedicated server. Instead of typing admin.kickplayer # you would only need to type kick # or ban # to do the action the console translates it up to the server and executes the command. Also to instead of game.listplayers it is listplayers. We are having issues getting a 10 byte package response from teh server to a remote client. We do not know what the remote client is suppose to send back to the server. If we get that figured out then we are home free.
I know! It sucks they did not leave that in there. I would love nothing more but to TORMENT the hell out of some of the SMACKTARDS I've seen on my server. Sit and watch them, and JUST when they THINK they are getting into a plane KILL them with the admin command. Then just do it over and over for them being an idiot. The funnest part of ALL the admin tools, for the admins, was that game.killplayer and they frigging take it out!!! LOL

Hey GRey we have some ish goin on with our server..Our processor isnt showing up correctly....is there a command to change it...and if so what is it...
The CPU is not showing up where correctly? On the server list or within the machine itself?
There is no command to change the CPU listing for the list servers.
If it is not correct from a hardware perspective than you'd need to go into bios or onto the motherboard jumpers to fix.
Other than that I do not know of a way from the server software to change the CPU listing's. It would not make since to allow that due to the SMACKTARDS that would say their 1.0 Ghz machine is really a 3.0Ghz machine.
Okay thanks for the help man...They listing i was talking bout can be seen on gamespy if you click on the arrow to the left of the server name it shows all the statistics of the server...
Hey whats the command to restart a map without reloading it? Like for a scrimm or match after everyone has loaded the map and is in the game so it can be started.
Thx
