ZBlock is now mandated for all TWL Matches on CS:S

Good morning all!

After our recent admin meeting on this past Monday, our staff have discussed and tested the current stable version of Zblock 4.5 released on October 4, 2010 and have declared it usable with eventscripts and gungame matching.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATLEY, ALL SERVERS USED FOR BOTH REG AND GUNGAME PLAY MUST HAVE ZBLOCK 4.5 ENABLED AND WORKING. This means all TWL CS:S matches will need to have zblock enabled.

I will allow a grace period until February 1, 2011 for all gungame servers to be updated with the new zblock without penalty. After this date, penalties will be given for invalid server. If you have any issues with zblock, please report it to a member of my staff.

Kind Regards,

As of now I am putting a pause on this as there still seems to be an issue.
How am I not surprised to see this post, that is why I didn't even install it on my server.

<---- If you're not wasted, the day was ---->
I tried to, and it even works GREAT when zb_active is 0, lol!
and all the info i gave you on exactly why this fails seems to have disapeared in a thread deletion... nice

basically zblock blocks the creation or use of non-standard cvars.

gg51 (and other but not all es scripts) create cvars on the srcds server to make it easier for user configs of their scripts, then they can simply execute the cfg file like a normal server config and the user settings are loaded.

Since zblock tries to disable this, you won't get gg51 setup the way you want AND due to the fact that gg51 tries to create so many at once during server load while zblock is simultaniously trying to block said action, the server will almost always crash.

You can load the server w/o ES, then manually load it as well as gg51, but as I said, you still won't be able to get gg51 working as it relies heavily on those cvars that it won't be able to create.

xD

Madmins would never delete threads, that would be silly!

Agreed, we tried to use gg51 and zblock 4.5 and could not get it running. Server crashed on start up. More investigation is needed.
Btw, gg could be written w/o the use of custom cvars, but it would at that point not support plugins and such (which isn't really desirable for competition play in the first place).

I have actually been working on and off on a script for that purpose for over a year, and could be persuaded to make a beta build for this purpose if zblock won't create a zblock specific cvar that will allow server admins to override the custom cvar blocking (which in reality is the proper way to handle things)
I'm lost why dont we use sm_gungame?

The only problem i see that would arise is the fact of ending Warmup round on the fly along with switching weapon order on the fly....
Why would we need to switch weapon order again?
I think he means for compatibility between reverse and regular gg ladders. There is a need there to switch the gun order w/o restarting the server.
What's reverse?
The ladder where team rankings are in reverse ;p
well I realli don't understand.... I tested it today and it worked fine..
as far as getting Rev & Reg it would be as easy as having GG on the server twice and just calling the one that's Reg or Rev...
Zblock 4.5 and the latest beta do not run with ES GG on linux. Crashes on server start. I am still not sure why we have to struggle to get outdated mods working when there is a good compatible solution.

You can use dynamic configs as of the latest version of SM GG...

Release 1.1.7.0:
* Added cvar "sm_gg_cfgdirname". Now you can change gungame rules after every map change.
