Suggestions to spread the word on CS:S at TeamWarfare League

Ok, this thread is to place suggestion(s) and comment(s) constructive in nature to help us identify ways of getting this game and our community recognized in the CS:S community at large. What I would like to see is a list of sites that player(s) read for CS:S related news, sites that will allow us to post our event(s) and activities so others may participate. Ways to improve our current ladder(s) and make them more productive, especially needing work on the Gun Game ladder. We are also looking for a list of potential shoutcasters for CS:S, which might be interested in helping us with special event(s) and competition(s). Also anybody that knows of potential sponsor(s) that would be interested in taking part in some of the special event(s) and competition(s) that will be planned and announced as they are ready to go live.

Along with the above, in order to expand we need more dedicated ladder staff to maintain current ladder(s) and support new event(s) and competition(s). Please let’s be civil and no attack anyone’s ideas on possible ways to improve the community. Every member(s) or potential member(s) input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

This might be a little harsh but let's face it, at the moment TWL, for players who know about it, is seen as a "fun league" and does not have a very "competitive" status. The only ladder that might be recognized as being competitive is the gungame ladder; even then, this is true for the top, 15 or so, teams and is that way because it is the only one out there.

This is just a personal thought but I do think that a change in looks might be a good idea. I do know there is more than one "skin style" but all of them feature a dark background (black). Not that I do not like black but personally I find brighter websites or sites with a white background more attractive and easier to the eye.

Steam id's need to be fixed, seriously. I don't know just make it so the player can modify it like he wants when he wants and lock it for that specific game when he/she joins a team or something. fixing would fix the multiple steam id issues for the same game. this should also allow you to enable zb_authhost which players seem to like a lot.

ACS???

As I said, these are just my personal thoughts though.
Advertising is great but it's useless if players don't stay.

P.S. Best advertising there is, in my opinion, is the community. If they have a reason to advertise they'll tell people about it and they'll check it out. Get the good player interested and you'll get his whole team to join.

Rocksolid has some good ones. I think a new website would be good.

Get rid of the shit talking gungame players, that would be good.

Steam id thing should be fixed, and yes, authhost would be nice.

And you should steal BOE's anticheat. (just kidding).
But an ACS would attract more people. I think we all realized that an ACS was needed in the Open Championship last season.

Also. Legion Gaming Network (http://www.mylgn.com/) is looking for more stuff to write about. I was gonna write for them and do a spotlight on twl, and they said that would be great, but i was too lazy and turned down the job

The steam id really is not an issue. If entered properly. The idea behind this is so you do not try to have multiple id's therefore multiple accounts.

The authhost definatly can't be solved 'cause some players still have 2 steam id's or same steam id entered incorrectly once and correctly the second time, this would screw authhost up. Many people have more than one steam accounts that contain different games e.g. cs 1.6 on acount 1, css on account 2 and and dods and cod4 on account 3 this is why seperate id's for each game would be better. this would also solve the multiple steam id's for the same game issue and you (admins) wouldn't have to worry about fixing id's all over the place. on top of that most players dont even ask for deletion of old or wrong id so...

I have the same id for all my games and it is not an issue. The issue would be if entered incorrectly which, You could fix easily. The incorrect one could be deleted by going into irc and asking.(btw if you noticed that an admin is on at most times unlike other leagues)

Ok, I shall bring the website and the authhost, to the proper people and see if they can make the changes needed. We are working with the TWL Anti-Cheat department to come up with something that addresses any concern(s) the community and the staff may have. Thanks for the ideas that have been posted so far and I hope to see more of the community involved with this project to help improve CS: S here on TeamWarfare League.

I just saw this thread. An idea would be to perhaps have cool contests and maybe season tournys. Like Fall Aim Challenge or something of the sort. Maybe a free server for a month or something as a prize which could also help with sponsorship for TWL as a whole.

Ok, to fill in the blanks on this one we did have an event called: "Summer Blast" sponsored by Art of War Central, since then they have provided us with a server for the team(s) to use. We are working on another tournament as the sponsor wishes to have another, due to planning and staff changes this was put on the back burner. We are currently working on another tournament and hope to have more information on this posted soon. I can tell you that it is going to be Gun Game, other then that please stay tuned for more information. We will provide the community in a seprate thread to take part in helping to plan this event, also we will need more staffing to keep things running smooth.

I don't know how you are about playing anymore. Some people are tired of playing CS, some people refuse to play it at all. It was just a suggestion, if you are not one of those people then get on a team and carry them to the top 5!
