ok ill probably sound extremly stupid but ya... this is first "new" online game i've played.... now what is a demo please explain....
a demo is a recording of the game of what you are actually playing right then and there. it pretty much records a video of everything u do in game.

id imagine that it would lag you a bit... how does it effect gameplay?
doesnt at all...
it also helps if after your done recording a demo, say from a match, scrim, pub whatever, go back and watch it to see what mistakes you made, stuff like that, it can help you improve your own gameplay.
It doesn't lag you because it isn't actually recording a demo, just basically logs the internet stream of actions that are going on.
I don't know about that....I get some lag and a little choppiness...it is very disturbing when I am in a firefight. I have a decent setup as well so It isn't my comp.

Athlon xp2800 oc'd to 3200
Asus A7N8X-E Delux mb
2 X 512 PC3200 (Geil)(Dual channel)
WD Raptor 10,000 rpm hard drive
Nvidia FX5700 Ultra
record (demoname) to start, how do you stop it? just type stop demo or something? or quite css?
type 'stop' or u can u just leave the game

Is there a way to play it with your media player ? or covert it somehow?

1- use a program called fraps
2- theres some command that thats a screen every 1/30 sec, then you have to get a program to compile all these pics into a movie.

the first is easier, but the second is usually much smoother and nicer
