sorry but there is no strategy in playing RTS games online.

ive noticed this recently since buying WC3 and playing it online. whoever builds the fastest is not a strategy its a race. knowihng what to build isnt a strategy at all. i just got my ass kicked by someone hwo probbably had no base defense, spent all his gold on buyying dragons at the goblin shop and then attacked me. b/c he knew that there was a goblin shop there that sold those things he won. if u call that a strategy then i now know why RTS games arnt as big as they sue to be. that is online anyway. the single player game is great.
First of all, why would anyone need base D?
Anyway, from what you've said, i came to the conclusion that you should never play any online games again.

1) You cannot buy dragons from the goblin shop, only from Dragon Roosts, or very rarely at Markets in The Frozen Throne.

2) Those were prob. dropped from creeps he killed on the map.

3) Strategy is very much an important part, because you need to counter whatever he may have. If he had no base D, why didn't you run over him early?

4) Play a while, and learn that you win some and lose some, the best way to take it is not to blame your enemy, but learn from your own mistakes.

Strategy can almost be broken down to a science...you observe what you have to work with, come up with an idea you can test, and then procede to put it in action. If it works, great! If not, shit happens! Lemme just tell you now that if you're willing to let a lucky drop get to you, you'll bitch and moan for a VERY long time.
this guy obviously forgot that wc3 is a micromanagement game. Cuz I've lost games to vastly inferior forces only cuz i fucked up the micro. This isnt CCG where its mass tanks or angry mobs.
hehe cnc is not mass tanks and angry mobs :P
it's two very different game and gameplay. The strategie level is the same for both but a very very different gameplay is involve simple as a that
mass angry mobs with quad canon back up is insane. only counter to it is chinese firebombs or a nuke/anthrax
Consider this:

-The amount of micro needed in cnc does not even compare with that of WC3. There are no AoE spells to consider, just mass damage weapons. The most micro you need is, "omg I'm gonna have to attack on two fronts to win this :{"

-Team games in cnc SUCK. I've played enough of them to realize that breaking it down to two 1v1 games is a completely viable strat.

- Massing units in cnc DOES work...don't pull that shit on us. Why else would they have "has built 50 tanks in a game" metals? Hm? superliminal (simpsons).

- EA online is *horrible*

- Resource collection...ROFL...wow...anyways..

Am I stellar at either game? Hell no. Not by a long shot. It's just these simple facts here...it's painfully obvious which game requires more skills on every single level...micro..macro...basic rts skills...

Did some thinking on the way back to school..

Another thing to consider is just basic spellcasting in general. You don't even have to think about getting crippled/purged/fairy fired/slowed etc in cnc. These things make for TONS of intense micro in mid-battle. The most you have in cnc is "hm...focus firing rocks..". Then after realizing that both sides are gonna suffer sufficient losses, you just leave your armies there cuz it's more efficient to just build more.

Lastly, HERO leveling. If you think about it, this alone makes WC3 more interesting than cnc.
cnc just sucks balls plain out. Any young white american can easily be #1. Unlike war3. You have to be in the ages of 17-21, Be in college, be asian, and have no life but school and war3. Simple as that. Any schmoe could get good at cnc. pffft
RA2:YR Vet.

Another thing you notice in the high ranks is that when people are losing they pull their ISPs 'cause they and you, the winner, get a "disconnect". The guy in 1st place has like 100 wins, 0 losses, and 129387198714239487 disconnects. That sux even worse.

I'd just rush 'em with a couple of tanks and an artillery or 2 before they got to build anything. Most of them give up as soon as I start attacking. The rest get their little infantry squished by my tanks and they're buildings whiped out.

And yes, multyplayers totally suck. It's just turtle wars and you sit there for decades doing absolutely nothing, or, you rush them and pulverize them all.

Warcraft 3 > Red ALert 2, Tiberian Sun, Red Alert 2, Yuri's Revenge, & Renegade, I didn't even bother with Generals 'cause the Gamespy guys said it lagged even in single player on lowest graphics on the fastest computers in the world.

Which is another problem with all the C&Cs

I don't get it...It doesn't LAG...it just slows down but it's still very playable. I mean of course it'll lag sometimes but my god...wc3 lags so I guess that's a shitty game now, too. Lag = chop...it doesn't really chop too much.
wc3 is smooth with lowest settings on, ccg skips when im just building stuff
yea but not to the point where "omg lag killed me" like SO many people say. I do agree with that stupid disconnect bullshit, too. "350-0-3245234" is not a good record.
I'm saying lag not meaning chopiness, but you tell a unit to do something, and he thinks about it. Lag usually means problems between you and the server ISP wise, not your computer. Choppy play just means your computer isn't fast enough for it.

If he really feels like it and he's in a good mood, he'll decide to do it in 10 seconds or so. If not he'll just go about his business.

That sux.

C&C renegade was set up so that if you shot him, he'd always take damage, but you'd shoot a dude that was really there 5 minutes ago and is gone, and he'd die, whether he was in a tank, or on the other side of the map, or whatever, he'd just peel over.

And everyone is equipped with an automatic *blink* ability, which Warcraft 3 must have copied. You never walked, you just teleported wherever you were going.

/is done venting about the ****ing C&C games now.

i don't know what comp u're playing on, but i havent played a laggy game in wc3..well, ever...unless you get a rare slow modem user, who u just boot anyways, so it doesn't really matter.
wc3 pwns cnc. no discussion.
Most people, including these people, think that the chunkiness of your computer, being that your computer is too slow for the game or the graphics and sound settings, is known as lag, us fully certified computer geeks know that lag is between ISP and server, or ISP and other player problems, and C&Cs lag over a LAN.

it actually does lag now and then. Ever seen the 'waiting for player' screen? = lag.
yea, but it's not constant and evil. It stops the play and either waits for him to come back into reality or drops him.
