I don't know how many of you actually play WC3 on a regular basis, but since the patch, people have been abandoning orcs for other races. Is it just me or is this just SAD? I mean it basically points out a couple of things:

- They really had no skill other than knowing how to tech
- They relied on towers to do EVERYTHING
- I swear to you I've seen people bitch about how they have to build a barracks for units now...

It's very sad, I think. I mean the orcs still have PLENTY of great things going for them. I'm currently trying them out against the computer to see if I can come up with good start...I think that's when they're most vulnerable. Even Floor was telling me that his main strat was the tower push/bloodlust build. I know this was VERY popular, but there's still things you can do with the greenskins...

Every orc I've played since 1.03 has done the grunts/HH slowly tech up to shamans, but I've seen more witch docs than Shamans lately. Turns out their wards are useful after all. Still waiting to see stasis wards used.

But grunts/HH get owned by every other race for some reason. Maybe better luck by making 2 barracks and foresaking tech for mass tier1's
I play orc almost exclusively.

Orc armies must be diversified to be powerfull.

Don't mass anything!

Get a kodo beast or two and upgrade them.
get 2 or 3 shammans (upgraded) and 2 or 3 witch docs (upgraded).
Keep shams, docs, and kodos in one controll group and keep them in the back.

You need some ground unit meat shields up front.
Grunts, Tauren, and the Farseer's summoned wolves will do fine.
If you're good at microing, get a couple raiders and use the net on big enemy melee units.

Upgraded Wyverns do a shitload of dammage! And their poison lasts for ten secconds. Use them to focus fire on enemy heros and units with heavy armor.

(Bloodlust) + (level 3 endurance aura) + (kodo beast) = 75% more dammage output for your whole army!
(and your allies too!)

I can't stress this enough:
DON'T MASS ANYTHING WITH ORCS!
YOU MUST DIVERSIFY!

And use those damn sentry wards. Litter the whole map with em! They last for 10 minutes and only cost 50 mana each! It's like a leagal map hack. And they will spot invisible units for you, so put one or two in your own town to prevent the enemy from sneaking in with invisible units.
Lusted headhunters+tauren+gruntmeatwall+kodo(damage)= helluva lot of damage. 1-2 healing wards, a stasis trap here and there.... gg.
if you fight an undead with a brain, you'll find yourself fighting your tauren and kodos pretty quick but that's just UD..
I still see wyverns and grunts as the way to go.. or grunts and HH.. I'm not huge on tier 3 melee

Bottom line is that a lot of higher level orcs have stopped playing orc now.. it's pretty ghey

I don't know how to counter banshees...

haven't figured that out.
Honestly... if you scout and find that he's using them, get some HH's and tear them up...that's what gives me problems vs. Orc..I'm sitting there trying to kick the crap out of the grunts and shaman while a small group of HH's gets my banshees...chain lighting ROCKS them too.. Usually if you have all your heroes out near the 'shees you'll do very well. If you play someone like me, you'll have to find a way to target them under frosties That's how I usually keep mine alive.
SlayerofFilth
zombie, how many blizzard games have you played?

battle.net is infested with retards who flock from one "imbalance" or slightly overpowered tactic to the next. this majority is simply concerned with winning by any means possible. basically, if you have to use your brain to win, its not going to be common on bnet

if you ever seriously played Diablo 2, you would have seen this in action every single patch its crazy how people mindlessly flock to the easiest solutions.
if I'm UD, i always get banshees. Possess hvy units and air. Fiends against air, ghouls for their skeletons + necros, aboms. Cant do anything about banshees unless you spot em early *which you wont*

I've only seriously played Starcraft, messed with D2, and now I'm serious into WC3. In starcraft, the big thing I saw was ..

-everyone was zerg
-everyone who was zerg also played protoss
-If you were good with protoss, you probably played zerg as your secondary

I didn't care for that game much after awhile. I kinda want to buy it again though... I do miss that satisfaction of surviving an early 6 zergling rush as terran and going on to win the game...that didn't happen much though..then enmity and I had a gay strat that actually worked...lol...well sometimes..I'd go zerg and purposely die..I knew how to defend myself though.. I'd get tons of sunkens and some hydras and then move my overlords over my sunkens so they couldn't focus on the sunkens... so like while my base was getting all beaten down on by 2 people, en would drop tanks in their base. Sadly, this was way effective.
SlayerofFilth
Dude it worked.... you die, I tank drop... it was magical....

Anyways, yea tier 3 melee is a no go vs undead.

Banshees are owned by headhunters.... focus fire and they die in 1 toss by a small group.
the problem with tier 3 melee is that its owned by tier 1 ranged units. send 3 taurens against a few grunts and HH and watch the HH focus fire drop them in record time. Tier 3 melee all have HEAVY armor, weak to pierce (most ranged attacks).

The orcs are still a good race to use but now you have to think a little bit (just a bit). What I do now is build 2 towers at my main and get grunts asap. I scout where the enemy is and creep an expansion in a place they arent likely to look and get a hall and 2 towers going asap, usually by dawn 2nd day. Now i have a reasonable force and an expansion. Enemy players will be able to beat my towers but not with my force backing them up. I have to play defensively for a little while at this point but I normally have stasis trap about the time i used to have bloodlust with my old tech build and if they arent NE, siege on the way. Now its time to hit the enemy. I scout likely expansions with sentry ward and if they have an expansion i throw down a stasis outside tower range and behind my force then send my siege at their towers. They TP, or come up behind me, either way they spring the trap and i immediately throw down another. Grunts begin eating their units. Once they snap out of stasis they have 4 seconds to try to kill my cats or get the hell out before 2nd trap goes off. If they stick around, gg. If they run, cats continue pounding expansion and trap is still in place and ready. Oops here comes bloodlust. GG.

Of course things down always go down like that. Alot of times there will be pitched battles when our creeping forces collide but as long as i have some docs, they will have to do hit and runs, allowing me to escape, or be stasis'd. If I am moving into areas where I'm likely to encounter the enemy, like a creep spot in between our bases. I throw down a stasis trap before entering. If i encounter an enemy i run back and let them spring the trap. What other uses for trap? Creeping at night, throw down a trap in the middle of some creeps and surround the creeps with your forces. Trap goes off, hit em with cl, grunts take half the creeps out before they even get a hit in. Stasis trap = uber.

As for healing wards i dont use them when i play anyone with ranged units or NE, anyone who wants to waste 150 mana to place a healing ward which will die in 1/2 a second from a glaive bounce is welcome, but i will save mana for traps.

You people say "...Then i get bloodlust = gg." Ummmmm...Ever played against someone who wasnt a total newb? Hello? wands, dispel, dryads, purge, ect... all own BL...so dont base your whole strat on one spell, you just might become dissapointed =[
-CoLD
Yeah.. I like AMSing lusted units.. tends to annoy ppl cuz they have to WoN them.. then i get to raise dead without a care I like that.
SlayerofFilth
AMSing?
anti magic shell
earlier in the post they were talking about banshees.
ah yes, make them waste those charges. Make sure you kill those dispel casters quick!
uh, isnt AMS now un-dispellable?
look for it soon in a game near you. that means lich can finally get of D&D for once.

i never been faced an opponent who AMS'd my units but i deal with dryads all the time. If you read my post you'll notice that im not relying on any one thing to win. I use stasis trap, bloodlust, catapults and a mix of units to win the game. In combination this is "gg" as i put against even the most experienced players.

AMS'ing enemy units is something im gonna have to try... talk about fuckin the orcs over...
