Do not update xfire or else (in particular xp users) you will NOT HAVE INTERNET CONNECTION! If you have already done so and have lost your internet connection..download this program on disk and use it on the affected pc:

You could also check for XP-Antispy or GameXP. Both are free, both are for XP, both help with speed.

Also check out Navis cable. Help with registry to open cable and dial up bandwith.

the xfire issue, if that were the case, would not allow honkey tonker on these forums, or in a game at all... this is a problem with high ping, MOST LIKELY, it's just a bad hop on the net that's close to him, so most all servers he would go to would be laggy... same would be for me when my orlando hop goes crazy (it's my 3rd hop or so). do a trace route to a server you get bad ping at:

open up the command prompt and type:

tracert 192.168.1.1

where 192.168.1.1 is replaced with whatever the IP of the game server is. it'll show you each "hop" as you traverse the internet to connect to that server, and it'll ping each hop. you should notice a gradual increase of ping, but not by more than 10-20 for any hop. if a hop is 30ms, and then the next hop is 300ms, then therein lies your problem.
