CDS v1.2 released

Historical capture recovered from the Wayback Machine · captured 2003-07-16 · 37 posts
OK, going to release CDC 1.2 since Psi has got you all hydra'd up!

HOWEVER, There is one known bug, so please READ THIS!

On some PC's when you exit CDC it's still in memory (You can check it your task manager). You can kill it in task manager too. Just remeber this, otherwise it looks good, but a v1.2a might be comming soon, so watch this space. If you try and start a "second" CDC you will either fail or the server will say you are already connected! If you can't kill it in task manager, reboot.

Apart from the above it looks good and I personaly love the new feature of the ingame pop-up! Great job Hydra!

How to use CDC with TWL Matches

OK, come match time start up CDC and ensure steps 1-6 (located on CDC form) are completed.
When ready to join the match, click the 'Verify My System and Join the AA Match' button.
If everything is OK CDC will start your AA and join you to the match.
Just play like you normally would.

Disconnects during the match.

If you get bumped out of the game you have two choices to get back in.

1.) Just type in 'reconnect' from the console like you normally would.
2.) Shut down AA completely, then hit the 'Verfy' button again, which will re-verify you and re-join you to the AA server.

Switching Sides

When it comes time to switch sides, you have two choices.

1.) Disconnect AA from the AA server, then type 'reconnect' from the console.
2.) Shut down AA completely, then hit the 'Verify' button again, which will re-verify you and re-join you to the AA server.

IMPORTANT: If you are going to be taking a break in between side changes, shut down your AA AND CDC, or just re-join the AA server and sit in spectate mode.

CDC Player Lists

You no longer have to Alt-Tab out to view a Player List.
The new method will display it in game. It is NOT a Direct-X solution so you will see it flickering on screen. But it's still readable.
Also note that it doesn't update real-time. It's a snapshot. To update the list deactivate then reactivate the display.

To activate the Player List = ALT-PageUp
To deactivate the Player List = ALT-PageDown

.
Tips

For best results reboot your computer before attempting to join the match.

HYDRA's CHANGE LOG

CDC changes;

-- Uncommented the error trapping that I forgot about in 1.1.
-- Now detects a new hack.
-- Removed the need to Alt-Tab, because I removed the ability to d/l logs.
-- Reenabled the second Keep-Alive method.
-- You can no longer use 127.0.0.1.

I have implemented a way to view the Playerlist while in game.
It is NOT a Direct-X solution so when activated it will flicker on your screen because it's fighting with DX.
It's still readable though.

ALT-PageUp to activate.
ALT-PageDown to deactivate.

Note that it is a snapshot and not real-time updating.
To get another snapshot just hit ALT-PageUp again or deactivate and then reactivate.

This will hopefully be a good compromise for everyone who was concerned about it.

Please guys, if you have any problems let us know in a constructive manner in the support forum.

Thank you

Last but not least, CDC is OPTIONAL for now....

However, im not even going to look twice on a cheating dispute unless all was using CDC, so I will highly recommend that you ALL use it and log any errors. Please get this tested guys before you have a match!

Does that really make sense?
What happens if the other team wont use it because its optional. Then if there is a cheating dipute, what should we do. Anyways, im telling all of my players to use it. That way we shouldn't have a problem
Sweet i love it went it finds the new hacks go HYDRA !!!
1 question to shadows? : what is meaning of many versions of hydra came out in a such short time?Does that mean that hydra is being hacked; or being updated for new cheats or just being updated i mean improved and taking cared of possibly bugs u/them found on it? THX again

Yeah, i want to know about this too. What if the opposing team refuse to use CDC but we don't want to play without it?
You have to play anyways then but i think cheating disputes can be looked into.
Why don't we just all delete our cheats and play fair... like world peace.. why not?

EDIT: Typo's

One thing that we need from you guys is to get cdc 1.2 and test it, test it in a scrimm or in a match but test it see if anything is wrong or not find the bugs now before it becomes mandatory so we can get them out of the way. Just remember that this version does have that there is a bug in this version right now which I am sure will be fixed soon, but it is easier to find more when large ammounts of people try.

Well read Hydra change log

But since you ask...

Improvement by allowing you to see the CDC player list in game (this also stop/removes the need to alt-tab to the desktop).

added new checks for new cheats

Behind the curtain, it now has better logging on the CDS master servers allowing us Admins to easier read the logs.

I for one keep asking him for improvement, both with what I figure out myself but also what you players ask for.

just remember that CDC is a cheat deterrent client not a IRC/TS2/MP3 player with build in word processer all in one app

As Rod said, please test it, since if we don't hear from you we will make it REQUIRED in a few days time.

Can we have it so I can still talk in IRC, MSN and surf the web from within the CDC? See... I spend a lot of time dead.

Downloaded, installed... Will be testing tonight.

Dont know if what about to ask belongs here, but here it goes.
What happens if (as soon as CDC becomes mandatory) all CD servers are NOT available and you have to play a match?
Yesterday my clan had a match, both teams agreed to test CDC 1.2. We all connected to Euro Backup 1, cuz that was the only one available. During the match we all got dropped from the server cuz it turned out that the CD server bacme unavailable. We couldnt connect to any other server, cuz they allwere not available. So we decided to not use it for the rest of the match.
But what must we do if that happens when CDC is mandatory? Please make a rule for this.

Actually, I think it was me who knocked out all the CD Servers during a test.
It wasn't the servers themselves or the server admins.
Notice that they ALL went down at the same time.

I know that doesn't really help you, but that's what I think happened with them yesterday.
Are there any US locales that have download for ver1.2? First choice is always USA.....
How soon will CDC become mandatory again? When the CDS servers are up it seems pretty stable.
<-----tard...I am lost ..CDC isnt mandatory??Correct in correct? If anothe team doesnt wanna use it we have to suffer and play anyways???I really am just lost..I see so many threads about How its out and mandatory except when there are updates..Ok and I see alotta ppl askin about if OPFOR doesnt wanna use CDC what do we do???One more thing anyone find learning Flash addictive that you stop playing AA and forget about all the cheats and stop coming to TWL forums (Please dont shoot me for saying that)just pop a nade threw a door at me (preferablie a closed door)
Just to let you know that we played ( 325th Brigade ) tonight vs 11th Wolverines, and we used the CDC 1.2 version
I only noticed 2 members dropping out after the match started. Game went well ( if you consider well, losing 7-5 ), and did not have any problems. We used the Euro Primary 1 server for the entire match since the US primary 1 was not available.

Great match, apperently I killed several of their generals during the defense part .... small consolation.

Hooha to 11th W and 325th members for a good match

Psychosis

Yes, CDC worked great in our match. I love the Alt+Page Up/Page Down feature, it makes things so much simpler. Whenever somebody joins you can press Alt+Page Up and see immediatly if he's on CDC or not.
Yeah, CDC works pretty well now (with Euro prim 1), great job
I always get servers unavailable since getting the 1.2......
Me 2 Arydan, when I try to test it, none of the servers are available.
I have made several versions of cdc manuals (every update pfew )for a few clans to handle this anti cheat program, but no screenies, no clear ready to use manual.
Can someone please please let one server alive?
A lot of ppl want to test their configs with this cdc 1.2
1 of my man had the same problem, he had to remove the cdc software, then make surethat the directory was deleted, then re install, and it was working fine after

HYDRA, I LOVE YOU but CDC is not working! Honestly I can't tell you enough how much I appreciate everything that you do but we haven't played one match with it yet because of bugs. Not to mention every match we play has been held up 30-60 minutes because of it. Even tonight with version 1.2.

Could you please make your post in the CDC support forum and give as much info about what actualy happend, so if there is a real problem (not between head and keyboard) we can work to solve it.

Thank you

I thought I recognized that name. You were that rabbit in McKenna last night. I couldn't stop laughing. Gotta lay off those carrots!

I have a serious problem with the admins policy on cheating that is stated here. It sounds like you're telling us that cheating is allowed if everyone isn't on the CD server, yet it isn't mandatory. That doesn't even make sense. I think you guys need to get things straight. I'm fairly sure that there was a cheat or a Radeon 7200 in a recent match where the other team didn't all log into CDS. But it sounds as if you're saying it's ok to cheat now. Btw, if anyone thinks I'm a goof for saying that someone could see through fog, I had a Radeon 7200 on my last computer and killed people every day through the fog. A player can't help what their hardware does, so I don't consider it a cheat in that case.

The policy is, and always has been, you need evidence. We can't take your word against theirs. What looks from your perspective like cheating, often isn't. As we get more tools we make it easier to provide that evidence. First we had screenshots, no screenshots, no cheating dispute. Then we had observers, no observer no cheating dispute. Now we have CDC, no CDC no cheating dispute. Having the later two is optimal (the first no longer applies for cheating, though they are still needed for other purposes).

CDC is optional only because we understand that when a new version is released there may be some bugs and you may not be able to get it working. You should use it unless you are unable to. The optional status only lasts for seven days after release, which means it's required again as of tomorrow.

So yes, it's optional. But don't use it at your own risk.
What I'm saying is that requiring all of two match teams to be on CDS in order to consider cheating accusations doesn't make sense because nobody is required to use it, which obviously means that no cheater will, therefore making it impossible to create the circumstance under which cheating can be considered. I don't plan to make any accusations just because it isn't worthwhile in my mind to fight over a computer game and also because I've been so rampantly accused of it since I started playing online games. I just thought there was a bit of a loophole in what you're saying. I thought you meant that all other considerations such as evidence are redundant without everyone being on CDS.

Perhaps you didn't read that part where I said it's required as of tomorrow ?

If you use CDC and the other side does not (either all or some of them), you have at least proved that you were not cheating. So protect yourself. Use CDC.
To Admin: In the last two matches we had everyone was in CDC at the starting point of the game after that a few players from both teams were droped of the CDC list yet all the players were still in the game. We continue to play regarless.

Please clarify for me.
1. If players droped does the game stop and restarts once everyone is back in CDC?
2. Let assume that I drop my self then activate a cheating software. Then I would still be in game yet no longer being monitor by anything. What are the rules against that?

Please advise, Thanks Playtronics

If you drop from CDC but not the game, don't worry about it. Keep playing. As long as you were in CDC when you connected you're fine.

If you drop from the game what you do depends on the seriousness of your crash. If you dropped all the way back to windows rejoin with CDC. If you just got disconnected from the server but are still in AA check you're still connected with CDC by pressing Alt-Page Up. If you are, reconnect through the console. If not, quit out and reconnect through CDC.

Ok I am sorry but I do not understand this part.
So if the players is droped from CDC list but still in AA he should just keep playing.

My question is this, what if the player connects with CDC then he quits CDC and start an aimbot. What is to keep someone from doing this? Is this something that ca be done.

Thanks.
I would like to know how this CDS works? Give me a run down on what it does.
We're getting way off topic here. These comments would be better addresses in the AA CDS Forum.
hay all has anyone had any problems install this app.... every time i've tried to install it i've got an error screen saying setup cannot continue because some system files are out of date on your system. Click OK if you would like setup to update these files for you now. You will need to restart windows before you can run setup again.. click canel to exit wthout updateing system files!!.... i've done this a number of times and still says to do it again. i'm running w2k pro latest patches and updates... i've uninstall and removed AA completely from folders and registry and reinstalled it... same problems same error..... ntfs is being used and user account has full admin access..

Any help warmly welcomed.

Try here. As the admins keep saying use the forum dedicated for CDC support.
