Demo Uploading - AA2

Well guys we are after some input from you guys and your teams on the idea of uploading demos to the website here after a match in cases of disputes for cheating or anything as this is normally what teams want to see if they suspect someone or want to see how someone managed to do soemthing.

We have the option under the operations tab here under demo library so demos can be uploaded but we need you help and advice for the following:

-Good idea or bad idea?

-Demos uploading for all matches or just disputes or when opponent asks in match comms?

-Demo uploads can be set for everyone to see or just admins which would you prefer?

-Penalties for players/teams not uploading demos?

Basically is this something you would like to see us do? Feel free to upload some demos to test it and see if you think it even works we are still looking in to it and I am unsure why we have not gone down this road before. I know it will increase admin workload and maybe disputes but the option is there if people think its worth it

So thoughts please

Feel free to chip in with opinions guys - i've moved this here for a larger scale opinion
I see this as a good idea. Will be faster for an admin to make a decision in the case of a dispute as they wont have to wait 24hrs after the dispute has been filed and received the by the admin.

Maybe an optional tick for the demo to be made public, as some teams are very careful over their strategies, and dont want to work hard on them for people to come on to TWL just to copy.

Penalties would need a tight clarification because if a match is played with no issues and the result could be posted before the other team even have chance to upload their demo. Then there would be no need to the team to upload them as it would waste the admins time and the teams time.

I like the idea though.
There are two options there under the option demo flags:

Public - Demos that are not public are viewable only by members of your team.
Admin Only

So either option could be used if implemented

As for penalties, yes we would need to look at this if implemented as even right now demorecs are mandatory.
Demorecs should of course be mandatory, but just as weirdo said uploading them would ruin the competition aspect of aa, because what would be the point of coming up with strategies/certain nades/spots and whatever else, if you know you have to upload your demos, basically giving it away.

-Demos Mandatory
-Demos only viewable by TWL Admins and uploaded when there is a match under dispute
-But if caught cheating by demo/cdc, then I think making the demo/screenshots public to all (and of course banning that player, with that match forfieted and any other matches hacking player has played in turned over) would be quite the punishment.

But I don't think it is a good idea to have all demos be uploaded right after the match to a public or private area, because I believe then, the competitiveness of competition will go even more down the drain.
--I also do not think it would be a good idea to have demos public once a dispute is underway, otherwise the admins are going to have a lot of disputes, and most of them may just be to steal strats.

I agree with Jambi. Also, most of people tend to have a narrowed-mind and they can't see what is cheating and what is not so I think that's better up to admins.
This is the scheme currently in place, except they are emailed to the admins apon a filed dispute.

If you could implement a smooth running, fast system to upload demos from the main page or team page for matches under dispute, that would be great. (Not only Team Founders & Captains, but also Players as well should be able to upload). But as an economist, I would say if it takes a whole lot of cash to do this then the current email system works fine.

The system is in place already here now and yes personally i'd rather just see demos uploaded only for admins and only cheating disputes
*bump*

Jambi hit the nail on the head with this comment.

Yeh, Jambi is right.

At least for NA that's how we see it I believe.
So people would like to use the system for uploading demos being for disputes on cheating only? and for admins only to view.

Just to clarify - the system is here already will cost ntohing and take no time to implement / anyone can upload demos (captains/founders/players) / People would prefer if we did do it that it is viewable by admins only
Would this system allow one to pack up a pack of demos and screenshots upon a dispute? In a league playoff match for example I have 3+ demos and a pile of screenshots that I generally compress before emailing.

What I am saying is that if screenshots can't be uploaded as well as demos the system would be pointless.

i think you failed to read everything they just said.
You are either very rarely disputed or you have downs. I don't care about ladder but, sses are required in league disputes and it is a hassle to email admins all the time.
/demos/default.asp?t=all

You upload a zip file so i'd think you could put all in there. Will test after work tonight if I get time
