Its easy to request a Match Observer, so why don't you use it?

using the above web-site it takes less than 60 seconds to request a MO for your match (all you need is the server ip/pw - and that kan even be filled in later).

Remember guys, if you don't have a MO attending your game there is little we can do afterwards if things don't goto plan!

Well me and champ tries for our 2v2 fights, but sadly we have little luck of getting mo's =(
and for those that do watch. A big hug for you from me
/action Slaps you with a dead opfor.
I hate to be putting someone out to watch a match. What are the benefits of having a MO exactly?

Make sure things run smoothly, help out with rules if any questions arise, look out for things that might be out of the ordinary. Matches with an OC, tend to run much smoother IMO.
No offence to your system guys, but I have requested an MO for 3 matches. Got one asigned for all 3 matches, but none of them ever showed up

Seems to me your just having bad luck...has the ip and pass been written?
Everything was given. Yeah perhaps it was just bad luck.
Not to bag anyone here because you all do a great job. However i have noticed one pattern with matches and MO's. Our last match where an observer was requested (it was the first one up for that date btw)all the info was given but like the 2 before that no MO. But throughout the week i noticed other matches for that day were starting to request MO's. I started seeing a similarity in the matches with MO's. They were all the teams that are rated the highest. I understand they might be great matches to watch but it defeats the purpose. Like right now SAW has 3 out of the 6 matches that are set for MO's. Now as i said this isn't anything directed at SAW or ST-6 or any other great team out here. i just see this every week when i hop on to browse. i quit requesting because we never seem to get an MO over these top notch teams. maybe we can get either a few more MO's or try and spread the wealth around. i would love to watch ST-6 and SAW compete as well, but at the same time these teams play each other plenty and the chances of one team acussing the other of foul play are going to be slim to none. Most of the top teams playing one another haveing problems are handled by the teams anyway.
Talon, I understand your concerns. I cannot speak for any of the other observers, but I observe any match that I have time for. Since we play in 6 ladders and league, I fit whatever I can in my schedule. I have been off the past couple weeks and have done quite a few Euro matches since they fall mid day for me.

I am sure that since you brought this up all of us will try a little harder to fill those matches. It may be that the observers assume that the other matches will get filled and so they pick what looks like a fun match.

One thing for sure though is to keep requesting observers and we will get our problems ironed out to make sure we fill everyones needs.
Thanks Terror for the understanding and i appreciate your candor. As i said i don't blame anyone for their choices of matches and i am not pointing fingers. I just wanted to bring the pattern to the forefront before it becomes an issue down the road. I love TWL and all the hard work everyone puts in to make it run as smooth as it does. We as a community have a responsibility to bring these kinda things up so as you say we can iron them out to keep TWL the best Community of gamers and teams out there.
I know that I personally pick whatever matches fit my schedule. We play in 5 ladders, I am shoutcasting, and heaven forbid I have a family also! I usually pick the matches where I do not know one of the teams if possible because it gives me a chance to learn more about the other teams. Also, are you sure you didnt have one? We are instructed to not interact with the other teams while we are observing unless we are asked a question. i have been in matches that i have only types a couple things and one of those was "test" to just make sure I was in as and admin. I know that all matches that want a MO are not always filled because there just are not enough of us to go around always. I love to look at a Saturday night schedule and see 15 matches that want an MO at 9pm and see that the MO's are also in their own battles......Alot of us when we are free are always in mIRC and we get yanked out of there to MO whenever we can. I know some of the guys like Terror and Purge will go from one to another like bunnies or something
It's all part of our plans to take over all the AA Ladders Maddog (Insert evil laugh here for effect)

On a serious note Talon(or anyone), try to hop on irc.gamesnet.net, channel #twl_aa, before games that you've requested an Observer for, just to make sure your Observer is going to show up. I know it can be a pain, with all the hussle and bussle and excitement of going into a match, but it will help.

Again i am not pointing to any one specific. And i am aware of the busy lives and family we (or alot of us) have outside of the game and work. I really do appreciate the work the staff and the volunteers put into this. We have always tried to do what we can for TWL as well. We have lent our server whenever we could and i finally got a chance to send my donation to twl as well. What i was refering to is that there will be 5 or 6 matches scheduled as was stated say 9:00est Saturday night. Their will be (and this is only an example)11th wolverines,ST-6,-joeshmoe-,^noobcrew^,wegetooled,and {wesuck}all requesting MO's.Only 2 MO's are available at this particular time. Typically (Not always)11th wolverines and ST-6 now have MO's. I am just pointing out what i have seen myself. We only requested an MO twice and yes i know the MO wasn't their. 1)none signed up for the 1st match and in the 2nd a setting was screwed up in our match with {325th} the MO never responded so one of our guy's jumped into the admin mode to change the settings and nobody was there. Honestly we rarely worry about an MO and we have only had one problem in our TWL history so as far as my team goes, we really don't worry about it. I just saw the pattern saw the thread and thought i would mention it. I hope this didn't draw any offense. I realize how hard you all work. We all do. You are all dedicated and i appreciate the help we have recieved in the past. I also look forward to meeting all the top teams some day but for now maybe noone noticed. i just wanted to point out something i saw.
I request a MO for everyone of my squads 4v4 matches since we are in the top 10, but it seems either there is still a lack of MO's or they just arent doing what they are suppose to be doing as in checking to see what matches need MO"s and signing up. The only time I got a match observer was when I physically went into TWL's IRC channel and asking a specific MO to observer my match, but low and behold the day of the match he never showed up. He said he got times confused. I think maybe TWL needs more MO's. I know for a fact that many more people including myself are willing to give back to the community and become a MO.

same over here... it might be easy to request one, but what gives if they neither show up for a match nor leave you a message that they can't make it to the match? No offense, i really appreciate this additional service from TWL and the contribution to the community from the MO's but it should be more reliable. So if you are assigned for a match, please show up or give us at least a message that you can't make it, so we might find an alternate.

As I figure it, MO´s are in the early stage and being developed as we speak. Proposals are being made to improve the system, and I am sure Psi and the guys are trying to figure out whats best for the twl community, just give them time guys...

I am one of the new guys, but I can tell you that I will not miss a match that Im going to Observe. I am a dedicated AA player, and enjoy helping out in the AA community. The link that Shadows gave is the way to request a MO, its fast and easy.
I am right there with Jeniva. And ofcourse after my own posts how bad would that look. HE HE. i will try and spread the love around as best as my schedule permits....
what does one has to do to become an MO?
Use the MO link, http://twl_watch.orrwhat.net/ and click "Apply to become a MO", then wait to see if you made it,the admins are busy, so dont be upset if you dont get an answer for a while.
Just a thought, I don't know what kind of access a MO has, but would it be easier to allow MOs access to the match comms ? It would make sense, they would not see any 'private' information. They could also confirm with specific information as to their understanding of time/place of a match. This seems fairly easy though, I am sure someone thought of it before.
