Sorry for any inconvience this may cause.

And you have to be how old?
13 - What exactly is COPPA, and why do they keep bugging us?
How do they make sure we are as old as we say? Cuz sometimes when I sign up for sites I just but in a random birthdate, when I'm actually 15.
Childrens Online Privacy and Protection Act.

Federal laws require sites to obtain parental consent from the under-13 set or risk a $10,000 fine for each violation.

By having a COPPA statement it helps to insulate a site owner/operator from getting sued by an angry parent and being fined by the government.

That's just stupid. It's the parents' responsibility to keep their kids off sites they do not want them on, and if they cannot do that, it's their own fault.
Will it come in email or pop up on the site?

I agree, but unfortunately in todays pass the buck sue happy it's not my responsibility society, it's just not happening. I mean look around at some parents today, crackheads, thieves, gimme gimme for free derilects. No better than the damn door blockers here in AA, just older.

When it is activated you will be redirected to the COPPA page when you try to load any page on the site. Once you answer the question your account will be updated and you will no longer see the message.
ok thx

I can cover almost 3 1/2 COPPA compliant players, so if we band together, maybe we won't need the notice!

COPPA merely states any website that wishes to obtain personal information from a child under the age of 13 must provde the child's parent or guardian with written reasons why they need the information, obtain written permission (a release form) from the child's parent or guardian and not to try and cover unneccesary personal information from children under the age of 13.

If you don't ask for date of birth, home address, telephone name, their real name, their age, etc then you're fine.

It has nothing to do with censorship or site access, just about collecting personal information from children.
