TV Out Help

Alright, this is off-topic, sort of. I am going to make a few America's Army Music Videos and normal videos and to do so I want to use the TV Out function on my GeForce 4 MX440 (Ya, it's a POS but it gets the job done). I've plugged the S-Video cord into the TV, which is connected to the VCR (where I will record the action) and also plugged it into my computer. The only problem is I don't know what channel it's on. Since there's no cable all I get is fuzzy and I've been thru channels 1-78 with nothing. I've tried Video 1 and Video 2 and I still get nothing. Not to mention once I turn the TV on when my comps on it screws up my comp in some way (so far I've got a frozen mouse and a frozen desktop). Do I need to update my drivers? Is it too much for my shitty GFX card to handle? What Gives?

no your card should be enough to handle the load. I my old GeForce 2 MX400 i had S-Video and i had to put it on video 3(just like my PS2) and you have to go into your display properties and chose to have your GF to put a copy of your monitor on yout tv as a second screen. You will probably have to go into your Dispaly Properties advanced tab to find the appropriate controls.

Note: America's Army Looks AWESOME on my 46 in. mitsubishi big screen. Resolution isnt good because it's a tv but it looks cool. Quake III looks cool too.
You say you plugged the S-Video cord into the TV? You need to do it like this ....

PC -> VCR -> TV

not

PC -> TV <- VCR

If you don't have S-video on your VCR use this http://www.trianglecables.com/1insvidsvhst.html

Hey thanks Korban. Someone on another forum told me the same thing but I wasn't sure what it looked like. Thanks for the pic. Now I can get sum sweet AA footage.

Errr. I just went out and got one and it doesn't plug into anything. I've got these other yellow things but it doesnt plug into those. Grrr >

I have also thought about recording it but I have 4 computers and my Gaming computer have TV-Out and my PII have TV-In, all I need to do is buy the cables I need, bad part is that I have to play in 800x600.
if i were to play on a tv... would be graphix card handle the load or would the tv???

The gfx card because that's what the data is sent thru. But i still have the dilema of why the hell doesnt this new thing I bought plug into my VCR anywhere.

If you bought the same thing that's on the website I posted, it goes inbetween two cables. One side of it connects to your S-video cable (and then to your PC), the other side of it connects to an RCA Composite video cable (and then to the VCR). These RCA cables often come as 3 stuck together, Yellow, Red and White. The Red and White you can disregard as that is for sound, plug the yellow one into your adapter and then into the yellow socket on your VCR. It should be marked "Video In", you might have two, one at the back and a convenience one at the front.

Your sound card probably also came with a cable to plug it's output into RCA sockets, you can use that to connect the sound (into the red and white on the VCR).

EDITED:
Ok I figured out how to have it both screens and what channel to record but now I have a new problem.

Why tiny 10 inch TV has a VCR built in but this big 24 or so inch TV doesn't. When I connect to the VCR it doesn't pick up the signal but when I connect to the TV it does. I can use the 24 inch but I can't record. Is the VCR outdated or is there another way?
